The Dame recalls her first interaction with Marshall.
It took place at a residents' meeting chaired by Pooter Cockell and supported by the estimable Malcolm Rifkind(who we so miss).
Anyway, lightheartedly, the Dame asked 'the pleased with himself' Marshall how Pooter should be addressed.
In reverential tones, Marshall advised,"Please address him as Leader".
The old thing had to 'hold her sides' as she told him to stop talking nonsense.
Courtfield residents are getting a raw deal from Marshall: one said, "he's invisible".
His co-ward councillor is Greg Hammond.
It is said that Hammond was solely responsible for candidate selection. The cynic in the old Dame led her to think that interconnection might protect Marshall......
There are wonderful hardworking cllrs like Sarah Addenbroke, Sof McVeigh, Kim Taylor-Smith and Emma Will.... then there are slackers like Marshall and Mary Weale.
They have the temerity to claim allowances without showing up for work.
Marshall yearns to be an MP...no chance of that. So insipid and pompous
ReplyDeleteMy dear Dame,
ReplyDeleteIs it true that Marshall used to have aspirations of becoming a Tory parliamentary candidate and Shirin Ritchie (who was in charge of selection at the time) had to turn him down because he is heterosexual. The Tory Party wanted to rid itself of its "nasty party" image.
Hilarious! On a more serious note; can someone please explain why Colville ward - theoretically served by 3 councillors - currently appears to have none? This, at a time when RBKC plans to "improve" Portobello market off the face of the earth - in order to turn the area into a poor man's Covent Garden!
ReplyDeleteKim Taylor Smith is somewhat less than charming to those he perceives as his social inferiors.
One of them apparently spends half the year working in Somalia. Another one is usually "unwell" and often very rude to residents .
DeleteAt least one of them is detained elsewhere and another has business abroad. Time for the Council to vigorously apply its rules on attendance and the Labour Whip, previously so punctilious in applying the rules when it came to getting rid of good Councillors, to now use every opportunity to rid us of the useless current Councillors he played a large part in selecting
Delete"Detained elsewhere"???? If a councillor is doing time behind bars then shouldn't the public have a right to know?
