Sinister-looking Professor Halpern runs an Orwellian operation for the government. It is called the Nudge Unit and advises Rishi on how to 'manipulate the masses'.
Giving evidence to a Parliamentary Committee with the sex-mad Matt Hancock the Prof said Britons had been "drilled to comply" because "they now understand what the drill is."
To quote Anne Widdecombe there is "something of the night" about the creepy Professor.
Gleefully, the prof said it was easier to imagine the population would accept future local restrictions.
He went on to defend fear-based messaging "in extreme circumstances" though failed to elaborate on what those circumstances might be.
So, Felicity....what do you think of Professor Sinister's ideas?
Nothing this dreadful government does surprises me.

ReplyDeleteDavid Halpern is Jewish. The Jewish people have be consistently the victims of ruthless dictators who used exactly the same methods of mass control that Halpern seems to advocate. Quite shocked. He should find this sort of crowd control abhorrent.

ReplyDeleteLiving in Chelsea I get quite frustrated by the Greg Hands weekly newsletters -hyper activity, zero achievements, selfies that would make Liz Truss blush and endless slagging of the oppo when he has nothing useful to say beyond parrotting Dishy Rishi's 5 slogans. I thought , living across the road from Buchan's patch, I would sign up to her newsletter to see what's going on over there. Profound disappointment. Totally banal. Come back Greg, all is forgiven.

President & Founding Director
David Halpern CBE is President and Founding Director of the Behavioural Insights Team having previously been the team’s CEO when it launched in 2010 until 2023 when he took up his current role.
Prior to BIT, David was the first Research Director of the Institute for Government and between 2001 and 2007 was the Chief Analyst at the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit. David was also appointed as the What Works National Advisor in July 2013, a position he held until 2022 through which he led efforts to improve the use of evidence across the UK government.
Before entering government, David held tenure at Cambridge and posts at Oxford and Harvard. He has written several books and papers on areas relating to behavioural insights and well-being, including Social Capital (2005), the Hidden Wealth of Nations (2010), Online Harms and Manipulation (2019) and co-author of the MINDSPACE report. In 2015, David wrote a book about the team entitled Inside the Nudge Unit: How Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference.
David was awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours in January 2022 for Public Service in his role as What Works National Adviser.

ReplyDeleteNudge think company also hired by the Government to "consult and engage" with regards to the Grenfell Memorial. They received hundreds of thousands of pounds. Over half million known of. What for?
