If Cowan is successful in getting nominated as Labour candidate then the Dent Coad clique will be in for a hard time.
Cowan has the reputation for being a merciless but effective bully skilled in political infighting. He is the sort of Labour leader Starmer feels comfortable with.
A point in Cowan's favour is gleaned from this report of a Tribunal meeting when he was accused of calling all the senior Council directors overpaid!
Well, we all agree he is right about that.
"The tribunal heard that the politicians were ‘extremely managerial’ and council leader, Cllr Stephen Cowan, was the ‘fulcrum of the toxic culture’.
Michael Hainge, who was the council’s commercial director, described one meeting where Cllr Cowan called in all of the directors, including chief executive Kim Smith.
‘He was berating us, implying that we were all overpaid,’ Mr Hainge recalled.
‘It was a profoundly unpleasant experience.
'When you’ve got the leader of the council doing that it sets an atmosphere that truly was toxic.
'It’s extremely difficult for that not to effect everybody?'
We all know that politcians are "control freaks" of the first order. The "toxic culture" also known as '"control freaky" (amongst the socialist and Trotskyite clan) does not just apply to Councillor Stephen Cowan of Hammersmith and Fulham. Cowan would not be my choice of Labour parliamentary candidate for Kensington but, there again, nor would Emma Dent Coad get past me if I were a Labour Party selector. And, I vote Labour and want Keir Starmer to be Prime Minister.
ReplyDeleteAccording to The Spectator, Ms Dent Coad, when she was Leader of the Labour Group execised "control" over every Labour candidate standing for election to the local council. Dent Coad decreed that she would write every Labour candidates' election leaflet for the local Council elections. Like all of the upper classes, Dent Coad disempowers the proletariat believing that she can do everything better than those who have come from "below stairs" without the Spanish pedigree of Columbus, Perceval and the Borgias. The Spectator says that she was sacked by Labour Councillors of that day who regarded this as "Stalinist" and voted to replace her with the very clever Robert Atkinson.
Keir Starmer does not need a Marxist from North Kensington on a power trip getting in.
With a look like that I don't think he will suit the genteel folks of Kensington and Chelsea. He looks like an associate of the Kray Brothers. I cannot see him at the Kensington Society AGM party
ReplyDeleteI thought he was very effective dealing with the aftermath of the significant rain storm and flooding event 12 July 2021 - his Council meeting on the devastating flooding that occurred was impressive. I am a Tory voter in RBKC. Nevertheless I was most impressed by Steven Cowen's ability to put together all the various bodies and experts dealing with the flooding in one room on one evening and actually getting answers. Far more impressive than anything RBKC was able to put together last year.
DeleteHe was very effective at the' all you can eat ' buffett at the Christmas Bash last year.
DeleteEmma wants to be Mrs Middle England; without the hyphen. She has no difficulty fitting in at Garden Parties or in the Morning Rooms of Holland Park. Her nice posh voice helps her cultivate her cuddly, non-marxist, socialist image; opposing the Mansion Tax goes down very well. She is all the more convincing hoodwinking people in to believing that she is a 'safe pair of hands' when she mentions her Spanish aristocratic heritage. Reality Check: She's on the hard left. As she herself said, "My socialism is Corbyn's socialism."
ReplyDeleteCowan is more suitable.
If Councillor Stephen Cowan were elected to represent Kensington in Parliament, does anyone know if he has promised:-
ReplyDelete(i) to resign as a Councillor in Hammersmith &Fulham so that he can devote his entire working life to representing Kensington in Parliament.
or
(ii) Will he do what Ms Dent Coad did when she was standing for Parliament ?
She said it was not possible to be a Member of Parliament and a Councillor at the same time and do both jobs properly. According to Ms Dent Coad, being an MP was a full time job and no MP should have any other job other than their House of Commons work.
She broke her promise to give up her seat on RBKC if she were returned to Parliament and berated her predecessor for serving the Council and the Westminster Parliament at the same time?
Actually as a Council Tax payer I want my senior Councillors to hold the massively overpaid and underchallenged Council Officer clique to full account and see no reason whatsoever why that has to be done genteely.
ReplyDeleteagreed
DeleteWhere you have a weak leader like Campbell the senior officer will conspire to look after their interests: it takes a streetwise bully like Cowan to keep 'em in order and noses to the grindstone
DeleteTime for Cowan to mop up and fix Kensington by eliminating Emma’s followers!
