THALASSITES DEFUSES A EXPLOSIVE SITUATION

This comment below is a spot-on assessment of Thalassites.

He has a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and that is a welcome shift.

The Dame has often paid tribute to some of the new crop of Conservative councillors and Thalassites will be an excellent leader of this new generation

He likes to see things in the round. He is just the leader we need....a man for all seasons and all residents.

He can be very sure of the Dame's support when he is ready to throw his hat into the ring.

"The latest update on this story is that, despite entering the fray only yesterday, young Cllr Johnny Thalassites immediately acted to suggest an equitable way forward for all parties. Certain officers have also risen to the occasion. Such individuals are to be congratulated; as is the Dame, without whose guidance such a promising position may not have been reached in time."

  1. What suggestion did this adolescent make?

The Dame may have detected some potential in the youngster but his juvenile ways are still far away from being ready for high Office. On official RBKC ZOOM meetings the boy uses a screen backdrop of palm trees, a beach and rolling waves (you could not make it up) to project his "image". We are talking about a teenager

And BTW Dame, I do not like beards

  3. Frankly, who gives a damn about the backdrop. My dealings with Thalassites show him to be a listener and intelligent. Whatever, you might think Wake Up Call he intervened in the Market situation correctly and successfully and to such a degree that residents in that area praised him. That's good enough for me.

    1. as for your dislike of beards. It is now a criminal offence to display this sort of prejudice. What about Che Guevara?
I intend reporting you to the Beard Liberation Front formed in 1995 by Keith Flett, a socialist historian.

  5. For Goodness's Sake, 11:57 the Dame is not in the mood nor habit to spoon feed readers. Read her ramblings http://fromthehornetsnest.blogspot.com/2021/03/an-awful-unlawful-end-to-portobello.html

  6. I am very familiar with the Portobello blog by the HornetsNest. There is no mention of the puffed up juvenile Cllr Thassalites so I am not at all sure why you think he needs to be congratulated??

  7. An explanation. In part in response to the government's covid recovery plan, ten Portobello hospitality businesses simultaneously applied for licences to place tables and chairs in the street in the middle of Portobello market, up to 11.5 hours a day 7 days a week. The pubs etc were understandably keen to recover their financial losses due to lockdown. The furniture was to be placed out during market hours; sweeping away Portobello market. Even now, details of this plan remain unknown.

All ten licences were expected to slip quietly through RBKC's licensing system. Fortunately, the plot was discovered in the nick of time. The traders were furious. Neither the town hall nor the businesses had been warned that the project was, as well as being ethically unacceptable, unlawful in respect of the London Local Authorities Act 1952 etc.

RBKC's markets are Cllr Faulks' responsibility. Her sole contribution to the resulting uproar seems to have been to tell the street traders to adjust to the new reality. Rebellion was in the air!

Then after a few days of rising anger, Cllr Thalassites - responsible for roadways - simply wrote a brief letter to a member of the public. In doing so, he cut through the impending chaos. Certain RBKC officers also did their duty to the public. It is now understood that Portobello street dining will be an evening affair; an added attraction after the world famous market has closed for the day. Largely thanks to Cllr Thalassites reason has triumphed.
