The Dame cannot remember the source of the story, but it goes to the heart of who Nick Paget-Brown is.
A new Lib Dem member arrived in the council chamber and was seemingly a little at a loss.
She was surprised to be approached by Nick Paget-Brown asking if he could help her find her way around.
The new leader is very different to his predecessor, the unlamented Pooter.
Unlike Pooter, N P-B is highly unlikely to cling on to power and gather as many allowances as he possibly can.
Nor will the new leader find opportunities to hotfoot
around the world, at our expense, using First Class travel and luxury hotels.
Nick Paget-Brown has a reputation for decency and is building a further reputation amongst officers, councillors and residents for being highly accessible.
There is now a very different spirit at the Town Hall.
But the leader has many challenges....not least ridding the council of the vestiges of the Pooter rule.
It will take him time and patience...
And this leads the Dame to her conclusion....there are many good, hardworking and honourable councillors.
They have been shocked by the arrogant buffoonery of Cllrs Moylan and Palmer.
They know the behaviour of these two undermines all the good work Nick Paget-Brown is doing to reassure residents that he is 'on their side.'
He is sufficiently well regarded to be able come down heavily on these two:he should do so without delay.

MR HOLGATE SHOULD HAVE A QUIET WORD WITH SHARE DEALER PALMER
Cllr Palmer continues to fume at Labour for supposedly exposing his share research during important council debates.
The chump got so upset he put up a silly comment on his laptop.
But he doesn't realise the pictures of him and his fellow Queen's Gate councillor, Danny Boys Moylan, were taken by a Tory supporter shocked by their behaviour.
But it seems Palmer's laptop indicated a particular interest in Land Securities.
Now Land Sec are very involved in major RBK&C related developments so the Dame thinks it might be wise for Mr Holgate to have a quiet word with Cllr Palmer...just so Cllr Palmer avoids any conflict of interest....
I am sure you know what the Dame might mean....

EX BOSS OF 'MAYOR TO BE' PLAYING GAMES IN MENTAL HEALTH DEBATE
Currently
Daniel Moylan is paid for following by London taxpayers....
- Non exec Tfl=£25,000 a year
- Non exec Crossrail=£40,000 a year
- Aviation adviser=£75,000 a year
- RBK&C=£11,500 a year
In total over
£150,000 a year!
So Queen's Gate
voters may wonder just what the hell is going on.
Palmer is busy
checking his share portfolio, whilst the insouciant and insolent Moylan whiles
away his time playing on line backgammon in the midst of a vital debate.
One hopes(or, maybe one does not) Cllr Moylan has not persuaded Cllr Palmer to invest in the
three property trusts he collects another £40,000 from....despite a bull
property market they have lost 90% of their value!
THE DAME TO VETO MAYORALTY OF VERY ODD MAIGHREAD CONDON-SIMMONDS
Cllr Condon-Simmonds seems to have been given the Dame's hotline number.
Late last night the Dame was disturbed by a very tired and emotional Maighread.
In boastful, incomprehensible Oirish, she tells the Dame that she is to become the new mayor!
It seems that the barrel is having to be scraped and scratched in the search for mayors.....the woman is universally loathed.
Here is a little from the archives on Cllr C-S housekeeper and another Standards Committee
It's not what you, but who you know.....

CLLR PALMER FINALLY GOES TOTALLY MAD AND DOES 'SELFIE' COMMENTS
VERY WEIRD...... |
- After Cllr Palmer's bizarre outbursts at the Council meeting the other night and his share dealing activity in the course of an important debate colleagues are considering a 'neutralisation strategy'.
- The Dame invites suggestions from readers.
- The Dame reproduces comments from Palmer: they are clearly identifiable from the bizarre spelling!
Up Yours23 January 2014 18:16This is another Labour inspired attack on the conservatives by the Hornet. There is no proof that the person in the picture is Cllr Palmer. It could be anyone. Anywhere. New hites of trivia and misinformationReplyDelete

- Cllr Palmer(aka Up Yours) it has to be you: only you could spell heights....hites. It's only fortunate you have not been put on the education committee.Delete
On the subject of trivia you surely must agree that it's trivial to be share dealing during an important discussion on mental healthcare.
You then seek to sow seeds of doubt by implying the balding man with his back to us was not you. However, Ludo has had your laptop screen enlarged for Auntie D. The date and time tie in with the Council meeting where you were noisily and vacuously present. Anyway, if the subject was not you then you have been defamed. You should instruct your lawyer to demand an apology and retraction. The Dame awaits....

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? PORN STAR RESURRECTS POLITICAL CAREER
For those cannot remember....Mr Lloyd North whose political comeback is being engineered by Mr Frazer-Howells
Saturday, 7 May 2011
Blue Candidate red faced and in Hot House over movie role
All is not well at 1A. Following the sad departure of two councillors, it really is a no brainer to go through selection processes to find a successor. Or so you would expect.
Especially after the complete shambles of selecting a former independent candidate at Earls Court last time every care was taken to select a "safe pair of hands".
Hornet was given a tip off the candidate for Brompton, Lloyd North, a BA air steward was also an ardent fan of former PM and Chelsea resident Maggie Thatcher. So much adulation in fact that he started his own facebook fan page, that you can read here.
It should have been a shoe in for Mr North and the Tories. Brompton last time had a majority of almost 700 votes, so it all looked good.
Then suddenly the candidate withdrew and the powers that be ushered in replacement quicker than you can say "Hot House entertainment"
So what has happened? Why the sudden change of heart and reversal of fortune from the previous Colville candidate in May 2010? Did the mock up picture cause offence to The Iron Lady and she handbagged the local chiefs?
Apparently not. Apparently also most of the Conservative Group are in the dark about exactly what happened unlike those on the opposition benches who, it would seem have known for some time.
Someone has let it slip that the candidate has allegedly appeared in a porn movie some years ago and this is simply far too much for the local Tories to stomach.

WESTMINSTER GIVES BETTER VALUE THAN K&C CLAIMS WCC TORY CLLR!
A puzzled resident writes to the Dame.....
This month's edition of the Belgravia Residents' Journal makes a rather bold statement....
"Right now Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's council tax is £1071; Westminster's is £680".
Who made this disclosure? None other than councillor Jean-Paul Floru from that made up, paedophile ridden country, Belgium.
Luxuriating in the Goring Hotel, Councillor J-P(as he loves to be known) sneeringly poured scorn on the skills of our financial whizz kid, Cllr Lightfoot by suggesting he could not keep up Westminster.
J-P FLORU WITH FOOT IN MOUTH |

Naive I might be, but I was always led to believe that RBK&C was THE Tory flagship council known to be prudent and proud to deliver excellent value for money to the Council tax payer: but the article suggests otherwise.
I find it hard to believe that the difference in Council tax between RBK&C and Westminster is £391 per annum. I am not sure how this figure has been reached but, if true, I would like to know why there is such a huge disparity.

I would be very interested to hear the views of other residents in RBK&C and an explanation from Hornton Street.
COUNCILLOR PALMER SHARE DEALING DURING COUNCIL MEETING
With her Kodak Instamatic the old girl managed to capture some extraordinary images of Councillor Palmer hard at work looking after the interests of the residents of the Royal Borough.
Palmer share dealing on RBKC laptop |
As one observer commented, " ..." while debate was raging around him, Palmer showed what he really cares about, demonstrating his total disdain for proceedings."
The pictures show Palmer avidly studying various spivvy penny share dealing sites.
Taking profits during council meeting |
The new leader is doing a tremendous job showing residents that he genuinely cares about what they want.
These images undermine all that good work.
Cllr Paget-Brown get rid of this idiot ......please!

ANOTHER HOLLAND PARK SCHOOL SCANDAL
A hard hitting censure motion at the Council meeting tonight....
Cockell plundered £100 million from Borough assets to rebuild the school hoping to get his fat backside on the red leather of the Lords.... and a juicy allowance.
So far it has no paid dividends....
However, it has paid massive dividends to manipulative Headmaster Hall who continues to flex his midget muscles as a newly independent Academy School.
Hall's first act was to tear up the agreement allowing residents to use the school sports facilities.
NO ENTRY FOR RESIDENTS |
Now he wants to remove the priority criteria for children attending Royal Borough Primary schools from his Admissions Criteria.
Hard headed Cllr Robert Atkinson will lead the debate and remind Councillors that there is a long standing shortage of secondary school places for Borough children and tax payers funded the new school to address this issue.
Atkinson will remind everyone that "rebuilding the school cost three times more than the sum recommended by the Michael Gove and way over the original budget".
Cllr Atkinson is hoping that Cllr Elizabeth Rutherford will use her best endeavours to ensure that Holland Park remains a local school. Of course, Atkinson is wasting his time: she will do what she is told.
POOTER COCKELL CONTINUES TO 'USE' THE ROYAL BOROUGH
Tonight, at the full Council Meeting the idiot Pooter leads a debate proposing that "England is too centralised and English voters have not
benefited from devolution".
This, of course, is a hobby horse of the disgraced ex Leader of Kensington
and Chelsea and he needs more puff and coverage in his final days as Chairman
of the Local Government Association.
So he has persuaded his old Tory
colleagues to give him public time to puff.
Nothing wrong with this, since
there is nothing better for the Councillors to shout about....but wait a minute:
our profligate ex Leader is crowing that "voters should be given back a
voice on a wider range of tax and spending decisions".
This is the stuff of nightmares......
- Has no one heard of Holland Park School?
Cockell spent £100 million to rebuild a perfectly good school in the face of Government guidelines that no school should cost more than £30 million?
- Has no one heard that Cockell's folly is costing tax payers £1 million every year in subsidy to Holland Park Opera?
- And how about his £30 million repaving, Soviet style, of the perfectly good Exhibition Road, with stone imported from China?
- and Chelsea Care....another £1 million down the plughole.
If localism means devolving spending to the likes of the useless failed fag salesman, Pooter Cockell the answer must be we don't want it.
FRIENDS OF HOLLAND PARK WANT CANOPY TIME REDUCTION
The Council has lodged a new planning application for the opera’s
temporary structures around Holland House. This communication is to
inform you of the position FHP Trustees have taken on the subject.
Last year. A strong objection from the local community caused the Council to
withdraw its application for the opera canopy to be in place all year
round. Further objection to the subsequent application for a full
eight months resulted in consent granted for the reduced period of 6½ months.
The past 6 months. FHP has been in dialogue with the Council to explore both whether
the 6½ months can be reduced to our preferred 5 months and also what options
exist for reducing the visual impact of the opera’s ancillary buildings.
Discussions have been constructive and detailed. However, improvements to make
a real difference will require significant capital investment. Consequently,
RBKC have put on hold the changes discussed while they explore ways of ensuring
a sound financial footing for the opera in future years that will justify the
investment. This means that no significant changes to the ancillary buildings
or the time the terrace is closed can take place in 2014.
The new planning application. It follows that the new planning application
is for consent to the same footprint, style of buildings and closure time (10
March to 30 Sept.) as in 2013. Whilst this is disappointing in the
short term for all concerned, FHP Trustees agree it makes sense to reduce the
Council subsidy of OHP, which is a burden on the ratepayer.
FHP’s position on the new planning application. We do not propose to object to the Council’s planning
application for OHP 2014. The proviso is that FHP is involved when
discussions on improvements are continued and we will write to the planning
officer to put this on record. Council officers and the Cabinet
Member responsible for the arts have assured us of FHP’s continued involvement
just as they have sought our view on many occasions during this year. Additionally English Heritage is monitoring the
discussion in line with their published view on consideration for the setting
of a Grade 1 listed building.
The Friends are not against the opera in itself, but wish to see its
impact on the park significantly reduced over time.
Performance dates. While dates of the terrace closure remain
unchanged, the Council has asked to alter the constraint imposed for 2013 that
performances may not start prior to 31 May or continue after 31 August. This
is to allow them a small window of opportunity to continue to accept other,
appropriate events that will generate income. Strict terms will
apply to prevent negative impact on the enjoyment of the Park and FHP will be
consulted.
If you wish to see the planning application in detail, it can be found
on the planning application search section of the RBKC website under planning
reference PP/14/00062.
If you have questions you wish to address to The Trustees of FHP, please
