EX CHIEF CONSTABLE SLAMS DIMWITTED DERBYSHIRE POLICE

Mike Barton, ex-Chief Constable of Durham Police has slammed Derbyshire Police for fining two ladies £200 for having a socially distanced walk around a deserted reservoir.

Their rationale? It was a picnic because the ladies were carrying takeaway cups of coffee!

It's understood you don't need to be a genius to be a policeperson but don't they understand this idiotic behaviour alienates law-abiding members of the public?  A police force incapable of responding to crime yet with the capacity to harass an innocent couple.

A picture of innocence? Not according to dimwit policemen.

Even Daily Telegraph readers are expressing contempt for the immature way the police are behaving.

Here's a really frightening example of how we are slipping into police statehood

POLICE HOME INVASION

PPE'S NO GOOD FOR BUYING PPE

The Dame is shy of boasting of her academic achievements: some might sneer at her First Class Diploma in Needlework acquired at her exclusively expensive Swiss Finishing School.

But this dimwitted looking fellow with a First in PPE has wasted billions of our dough buying dangerously duff PPE from dodgy friends.

Hancock needs the Dame's Dip Needlework. It would have better qualified him to know he was being sold junk.

And why do these irritating people make 'thumbs up' when they have so cocked up?

You would not give one of them a job.

RECYCLING THE CORRECT DECISION?

The Dame holds Cllr Thalassites in high regard.

He is one of the new generation of councillors determined to listen to residents and comply with their wishes.

Residents and business were united in rejecting the cycle lane for the chaos and pollution it caused.

It now seems that dark forces are at work and arms twisted....

The Leader, Cllr Campbell has asked the Council to look again at the decision to remove the temporary cycle lane on High Street, Kensington  and will be consulting with the entire Leadership Team 'sans Cllr Thalassites' in the interests of "fairness and balance"

This is plain silly. Thalassites has an important contribution to make to this debate and to exclude him is shortsighted.

At the end of the day, the issue probably needs to be decided by a referendum amongst those worse affected: residents and business who endure the chaos and pollution created by this waste of space.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO BRING ON THE DEFENCE MEDICAL SERVICES

Peter Homa, Director-General, Defence Medical Services

One of the few organisations that excel is our military.

We have one of the most dysfunctional governments in living memory so need to think laterally about getting back onto the front foot. We cannot continue to indulge this accident-prone, hapless government.

A To-Do List

1. Force out Johnson and his disruptable cronies, Shapps, Williamson, Jenrick and Patel and fast forward the only man with any brains, Rishi Sunak.

2. Utilise immediately the Defence Medical Services

"The DMS is made up of the Navy Medical Service, Army Medical Service, the Royal Air Force Medical Service and the Joint Medical Group (JMG). The primary role of the DMS is to promote, protect and restore the health of the UK armed forces to ensure that they are ready and medically fit to go where they are required in the UK and throughout the world.

The DMS is staffed by around 12,100 service personnel (8,100 regular and 4000 reserve) and 2,500 civilian personnel and provides healthcare to 135,360 UK Armed Forces personnel (as at 1 Oct 2020: The UK armed forces quarterly service personnel statistics)."

If this Government had been fit for purpose it would, at the outset, have bought in the resources and logistical skills of our world-renowned military. Another opportunity missed....

A RESTLESS RESIDENT WRITES TO THE DAME

Dame, being vulnerable in every way I hope you are well ahead in the target challenge of 130 million vaccinations.

Another ten years to go for the rest of us? I drove an elderly friend to the North London Health Centre, 40 minutes from her home, for her first jab and just received an £85 parking ticket from the centre while I waited for her.

Yesterday my elderly neighbour walked to the Earls Court Health Centre in Kensington for her first jab and waited for twenty minutes on the pavement, in cold and rain, before being allowed in.

In both cases, the administration of the vaccine by health staff was a friendly, first class service.

Today, another 63k infections. The highest ever, and still climbing. And GPs are starting to report they are worried about vaccine supplies. The system is based on a piano wire of a single "Oxford" supplier for formulations from a factory in Wrexham. This is Dad's Army. And, in the meantime, the economy is on hold and a wrecking ball of debt is building up.

Some out of the box thinking and/or logistics experts like DHL and FEDEX are needed.

Vaccine shortage? Mr Poonwaller, an Indian entrepreneur, bet the shop earlier this year and built production capacity outside Mumbai for 2 billion doses a year. He is ready to go and the Gates Foundation will soon start signing contracts for the vaccine for Africa. Poonwaller is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical manufacturers. And most of the world's aeroplanes are grounded. Waiting to transport vaccine? And India has a 300 year relationship with Britain, to smooth the process. Need I say more.......

There are a few MPs who see the need to shake things up. They are shaking it. But they need support.
Your sadly,
A reader

TWIST AND SHOUTING

Matt Twist is the Assistant Commissioner responsible for Covid Recovery. He is thoroughly enjoying his days in the spotlight.

Every day he comes out with some new patronisingly pompous diktat designed to convince us that we are now in a quasi-police state.

Time people like Twist zipped it up and got on with their jobs

When he says, 'we are all in this' he is clearly unaware that one restaurant which has to remain nameless had a curtained off area where certain officers were guests of the owner....and no....the Dame will not divulge anything even if hauled into Kensington Police Station.

“This is why Londoners must take action now to stop this virus spreading further across our city. Action now by everyone will help reduce the time our capital must live with these restrictions and, crucially, will prevent more people from dying needlessly because of this virus. It’s up to us all to do the right thing.”

BAFFLED BUFFOON BORIS BUNGLES AGAIN

The Steeples Times has a coruscating piece on the buffoon's Lockdown 'strategy': strategies are usually perceived as things well-thought through. Not, however, when Boris and his ramshackle cabinet have their fingers all over it.

Read about it here Steeples Times   (apologies...a previous poor link)

Frankly, it would have been more sensible handing the organisation to the Royal Army Medical Corps who, unlike the politicians and civil servants, know how to organise logistics....at the moment we have an omnishambles.

A PRIME MINISTER WITH A DIGNITY BYPASS

The old Dame is no ardent monarchist: in fact, one of her forbears was foolish enough to end up as a regicide but in these modern times it's salutary to compare two very different types of leader.

In Boris Johnson, we have a Prime Minister who surrounds himself with colleagues of indifferent quality and thinks it appeals to the masses to behave like some music-hall turn.

(Mr Sunak...excepted!)

In Prince William, we have a leader who intuitively knows how to behave and performs his role with dignity, elegance and grace.

Our Prime Minister should look to Prince William and learn lessons.
