HOLGATE IN THE FIRING LINE

Holgate is a very decent old cove. Everyday he must rue the day he took on the poisoned chalice of clerking the rotten borough. How he must miss the refinement of Whitehall....clever colleagues etc.

But it seems our gullible Town Clerk has been duped by his underlings... yet again

In his letter to Greg Hands, he assures the MP that the Council checked no further land disposal consents were required for the Marlborough redevelopment, but that the Department for Education contacted them out of the blue, insisting they make a belated S77 application for disposal of playground.

However these two emails from the Department for Education paint a very different picture – they show that the Council was warned not once but twice in 2013, that they would need to apply for playground disposal SEPARATELY.

Was their failure to apply a DELIBERATE act or an act of STUPIDITY? In any case the "legal advisers" ought to be given the heave-ho.

The Council was caught red-handed by the DfE, about to dump a commercial block on school playground without consent and without the 6-week public consultation that now ends on November 6th

There is still time to email your objections to the Council, condemning this murky business and insisting that the playground be preserved for the school children: write to mps@rbkc.gov.uk

  1. Hornton Street has got used to its own bad behaviour. Anything goes. If you do not want to do something, then "forget" that you cannot do it. If found out, just apply retrospectively for permission.

This is slack Alice world. A joy to the crooks taking back handers

The only way to stop this behaviour, assuming that anyone wants to stop it, is for Paget-Brown to make an example and fire Holgate. Not Holgate's fault, but it would be a signal to the others to behave.

    Long overdue.

    1. Victoria Borwick MP seems like a decent sort. I am sure that she would like to clean up the Town Hall. Hope she puts the pressure on. I once asked Greg Hands MP to do something about Town Hall corruption and he refused. I suppose he will be too busy devising a new Tax Credit policy to bother with this.

Do Owl and Hawk think there would be any mileage in clipping Holgate's wings. He is very cocky.

  2. Firing Holgate would leave us with an ever more compliant successor.. Let us be clear, it is not the officers who are engaged in dodgy dealings, it is some senior Tory councillors - past and present.

  3. Would it not be best for our two MPs to be involved and stop this corruption Hands and Borwick if they have any sense of decency would have nipped this in the bud. I am surprised most of the RBKC corruption does not make it into the Mail let alone the Mirror.

  4. Indeed, POOR Holgate..But, he did NOT have to move from the Treasury to RBKC, unless there are reasons unknown to us plebs. Firing him most probably won't change anything. P-B et al will just appoint a more compliant lap dog to the post....

Holgate left the Treasury because wanted to earn more than the Prime Minister. The Treasury doesn't dish out that sort of money but if you are a good Tory boy, RBKC soon comes up with money.

  7. Is Gatey right when she says Holgate earns more than David Cameron- when I think what Cameron has to do to get his money and how little Holgate does by comparison.

  8. Why hasn't Paget Brown done for Holgate. This episode shows Holgate is not up to the mark.

    1. Paget Brown has not done for Holgate because Holgate is a safe pair of hands for his Tory paymasters,

Holgate should do the decent thing and fall on his sword for misleading a local MP.
