MORE GRIEF FOR TAXPAYERS!

We are often told how hard up councils are....don't you believe a word of it. Our Council is just about to have to pay out a huge sum in compensation after a co-worker made a lewd comment.

You can read the STEAMY STUFF HERE

Old chap

A senior accountant on £150,000-a-year and his £100,0000-a-year younger female colleague wins payout from RBK&C council for sex harassment after workmate told colleagues they were having an affair and popping off for amatory activities instead of bean-counting

  1. Incredible the way our money is thrown about. £400 a day for an accountant kid!!!!

  2. Quirk is splurging council tax on expensive temporary staff called "consultants". Cabinet Member for Finance (Cllr Weale) does not have a grip on things and it seems to be beyond her ability to understand and insist on a more ordered and planned organisation in Hornton Street. All part of the failure of Leadership in the Town Hall

  3. Classic situation. Expensive consultant with no loyalty to the organisation brings in girlfriend on another huge consultants daily rate. The loyal, boring, pedestrian employee gets passed over, job taken away, too expensive to fire so she just "comes to work" with nothing to do. Of course she is pissed off. And then she gets furious when she realises that Consultant 1 and Consultant 2 are having it off. So she blasts off and says some very understandable things. Some very normal things.

But in our new PC world you cannot say these things. The law intervenes. All sorts of nonsense Tribunals get involved spouting more nonsense. Expensive consultants "pass go" one more time and pick up another £150k for doing nothing except claiming sexist comments.

    All funded by Council Tax

    A circus

This is a worrying report and brings into question the competence of the Council's Chief Executive, Barry Quirk.

The Dame is concerned about the high cost to Council Tax payers of temporary staff and compensation payments. In today's world both of these are modern facts of life.

But the worrying news concerns the repeated reports of the large number of costly temporary staff in the Town Hall. Such as £150k per year for an accountant. This is indicative of an organisation that is rudderless.

Well managed organisations have an agreed strategy. And then a structure and culture are created to implement that strategy. A good management builds, motivates and develops the team. Loyalty, commitment and passion for the task is the engine room of progress. From time to time emergencies like Grenfell come along. Good organisations rise to the challenge - they go the extra mile and achieve extra ordinary things. And in so doing staff bond more closely and become a high performing team. All of this is lost when an organisation has no direction, is a fair weather activity, and relies on temporary staff to cope with swings and roundabouts.

If I came across a picture like this it would focus my mind on the urgent need for leadership change.

    Dear Dame,

I knew that Council Officers sit around all day drinking tea but I never knew that they discuss fellatio with their cuppas.

    1. Its what happens when organisations lose their purpose and focus and fill vacancies with box tickers in order to maintain headcount and status.

A failure of Leadership. Cllr Campbell is in the wrong job. Seriously out of her depth.

      Dear Dame,

Do you know what the Tory Party's Constituency Chairman makes of all of this?

Talk of fellatio and cunnilingus at the Town Hall with Council Tax payers footing the bill for damages and legal services. Whatever next

    3. The Freedom of Information Act 2000 allows people to find out just how much the Council spent on legal advice and representation in respect of this Employment Tribunal claim.

I am not sure if we can find out how much the Council paid to settle the claims made by two former employees.

    4. Remembering Mary Whitehouse raises an interesting question about the Chairman of the RBKC Tory Association. What is going on there?

    5. Why should I pay through the Council Tax the Council's legal bill and compensation for the claimants because some bloody awful woman working at the Council FANTASIZED that her boss and a female colleague were having it off.

You cannot take employees for granted. If a long serving Officer, a Deputy Head of Finance, suddenly gets replaced by a "temporary Deputy" on twice the salary. And then the "temp" hires another "temp" who happens to be a high paid dolly bird, how is the original member of staff going to behave? Of course she will lash out at the dolly bird and her protector. Not only has the original been by passed and suffered loss of face in front of long term colleagues, but she is also having her nose rubbed in it.

There is no question that this is bad management. It is appalling management. Mr Quirk should never let a situation like this arise. It demotivates the whole organisation and performance ratchets down. In comparison, the PC stuff and Tribunal damages is just "noise".

    7. It is sexist to refer to this young woman as a "dolly bird."

You say that the Tribunal Damages are 'just noise." I call it pricey noise.

The local Tory Party Chairman has been quiet about this, but what are the Labour opposition going to do about the poor leadership and poor work culture at the Town Hall.

Is it time for Mr Quirk to consider his position?

Of course you are right 12.17. I suppose that "dolly bird" is sexist. I am afraid that I could not think of a better description. In fact it never even occurred to me to even try.

Perhaps you can suggest a more proper description?

    9. Why refer to her looks in the first place when what you are really describing is the situation at her place of work?

It is irrelevant if she is attractive or ugly. Her looks are not the issue.

I suspect that you would not refer to a good looking man's looks when describing what went on at his place of work.

    10. 14.20 sounds like a pathetic WOKE. Does he/she really think that an ugly chick could command £100k for sucking dick?

And, frankly, in my workplace it is only the good looking young guys who are shagging all the secretaries. The ugly blokes have to make other arrangements.

Who is the Chairman of the Kensington Tory Association?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Duchess asks a good question. Long time Tory Andrew Foster currently puts his bum on the Chairman's Chair. Andrew decided to retire before the last Association AGM in August this year and two candidates put their names forward to replace him. Aggressive Ross Allen with a track record in campaigning and mature Cllr Addenbrooke (Abingdon Ward) with wide experience of the Council. Unfortunately the Association did not follow the election rules and screwed up the election. And the fur flew. Gracious Addenbrooke was at the receiving end of huge anger and abuse from the Scotsman (who inciently got drunk twice at the Tory Party conference and became extremely abusive towards certain members of the RBKC Conservative Association).

Foster suspended the election, said that he had no wish to continue as Chairman, and pledged to bring the two candidates together and decide the way forward. This task is bigger than "nice Andrew" and we are still waiting for news.

My guess? Foster will still be hanging in there at the 2023 AGM. Could it be that he wanted to keep the job all along??? I do wonder.

I am hoping that this case goes back to the Tribunal for a Damages' Hearing so we can find out exactly how much it cost us. I bet Quirk authorises a generous out of court settlement, more generous than the settlement fixed by the Tribunal, just to keep us off the scent.

Does anyone know anyone working in the Creditor Payments' Section at the Town Hall who would be prepared to spill?

  12. Unvarnished sexism sucks.6 December 2021 at 13:01

Regardless of what Wake Up Call thinks to the contrary at 06.32 on the 5th December 2021 above, this young woman is paid her salary because of her work, her ability and her skills and NOT for the performance of any sexual services.

No one would suggest that a handsome young man was offered lucrative employment just because he had a big one and could shaft his heterosexual boss better and harder than someone else.
