WARWICK PROFESSOR RECOMMENDS POLICE FINE OVER 50'S...WHAT A DIMWIT!

MAD PROFESSOR
This is Professor Andrew Oswald from that hotbed of sociological drivel, Warwick 'Uni'.
The Prof wants to keep over the '50s at home for an extended period on the basis that Covid 19 is more likely to polish them off. He wrote, "police officers would have to be given the power to fine those caught breaking the age rule to ensure it was followed"
The Prof is so indolent in his thinking he cannot come up with a solution recognising each age group contains high-risk elements: those with underlying health issues...the unfit or, more likely, the obese.
The Dame wrote to the Prof telling him to buck his ideas up and think constructively.
Instead of a blanket lockdown for over 50's he should have recommended over  50's ask their GP to provide a certificate that they suffered no underlying health issues nor were obese.
This could be provided for a nominal sum
These nonproductive university departments need to be closed down and the staff sent to farms to pick fruit and veg.

  3. This is discrimination of the most basic type. Scribblers like the Wawrick Prof should bring it on. They will last a nano second in Court.

Why does he not suggest that all black people should stay at home? According to Government statistics black people are twice as likely as white people to die from Corvid

Prat. OSWALD! What a silly name

  5. Friend of the Professor30 April 2020 at 16:23

I have just been alerted to this vile blog.
Professor Oswald is a dear friend and fellow academic and I have the honour to have jointly authored with him a peer group reviewed piece of research. I will refrain from mentioning the topic as it will no doubt invite sneers from the ignorant and infantile readers of this blog.

  7. It is just awful to think that tax payers are paying for this center of mediocrity that has the impudence to call itself a university

  8. Does that include police, nurses, doctors, care workers, people working in shops ?? That would be all the managerial class. Should all the consultants currently treating corona virus over the age of 50 be placed in lockdown with immediate effect. Would that also include Boris Johnson, Nigel Gove et al. Get real !!!

  9. I agree with the Dame
I've just scanned this research and I cannot believe it went through scrutiny by the university before going public; the peer review appears to be zero. The apparent data used in parts, comes from sources that at best can be described as unreliable; China? Seriously? His extrapolation from the data could be filed under either Best Guess or Disneyland. Warwick need to have a bit of a social distancing chat with the learned Prof as it is not a credit to their university.

  11. Actually the University of Warwick is a very good university -- check out its UK and global rankings -- with, among others, an excellent engineering department that cooperates with leading motor manufacturers.

Denigrating the whole university just because you don't approve of what one academic has said shows considerable ignorance and lazy thinking.

  12. PLEASE can someone contact Peter Hitchens and inform him about this dangerous fanatic of a Professor.

Hitchens is one of the brave few journalists trying to expose this catastrophic, Orwellian, self-destructive, irrational coronavirus hysteria. For various reasons I don't want to do so myself.

His twitter account can be found at @clarkemicah and his excellent blog demolishing the Covid 19 myths can be found at https://hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk/

Those interested in the strong case against this terrifying lunacy will find plenty of remarkable evidence and will be surprised how many eminent scientists and epidemiologists reject the official position yet are being totally ignored by the media.

Some of these, like one of those advising the Swedish Government appear to view Ferguson - the man with the ear of governments whose modelling has blown up the world - as something of a charlatan.

Even a brief examination of Ferguson's career shows he has an astonishing track record of making wildly exaggerated predictions. The head of the Oxford University Covid 19 study expressed surprise that the UK and US administrations took him so seriously.
