The Dame hears of fury in 1a Chelsea Manor Street.....
'Mayor to be' Maighread Condon-Simmonds has taken the unusual step and asked highly regarded Labour councillor, Robert Atkinson, to be her deputy mayor.
Apart from the fact that they both worship at the Servite Church in Fulham Rd- and live close to each other, they appear to have little else in common.
But Atkinson,is a kindly soul.
He realised Maighread was struggling to find a Conservative councillor to take the poisoned chalice....and, being the gentleman he is, made himself available.
"highly regarded Labour councillor, Robert Atkinson"
ReplyDeleteWho by ? None of the Conservative Councillors judging by his performance at the last full council.
But then this is a Labour Blog
Do the Tories hold anyone other than their own individual selves in high regard? Sometimes delusionally so ...
DeletePalmer....you have been told by the Chief Whip to stop making a fool of yourself on the Hornet. DO as you are told
DeleteIt's OCD, but not as you know it.
DeleteCon/Lab pact. Lib Dems watch out......
ReplyDeleteLib Dems? No chance! Even Maighread can spot a lost cause at 100 paces.
DeleteThe Deputy Mayor needs to be around after May. Bit of a farce if they aren't. So the Lib Dems aren't in the running.
DeleteLabour should try and focus on representing their voters instead of dressing Atkinson up and have him poncing around playing deputy mayor.
ReplyDeleteThis is a real humiliation for Pooter who did everything he could to prevent Councillor Atkinson from becoming Deputy Mayor. Didn't think he was sufficiently respectful to Pooter's toe curling speech at the last council meeting. Even the Conservative Councillors told Pooter to get lost.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a bit of noncooperation to stab your former leader in the front.
