THE £170,000 A YEAR COST OF COCKELL

Thanks to an FOI placed by the Dame's collaborator, Justin Downes, we can reveal the full cost to Kensington and Chelsea taxpayers of supporting the very part time leader, Sir Pooter Cockell.
THE POOTER SUPPORT TEAM!

Pooter decided he needed a Head of Office...gross cost  £60,000 a year. Click here Head of Office to read all about it

The ad even promises a bonus, though it is difficult to envisage the performance criteria on which the bagcarrier's bonus will be triggered

He then decreed someone of his magnificence required a Personal Assistant....gross cost £40,000 a year

And now we turn to Pooter himself. For being a part time leader this quite unqualified chap strong armed his colleagues into paying him a mind boggling gross £76,000 a year

So the taxpayers of K&C end up having to pay £3,300 per week to keep this pompous fellow feeling important. At least he now admits he is forbidden the use of the Bentley....unless with Buffy Buckmaster!

  1. Even the chairmen of some of our largest companies don't have all these people. Who the hell does this idiot think he is? Bill Gates?

  2. Nice to see a man from humble beginnings rise to the top

  3. Top of a pile of rubbish....no great talent required to get on as a cllr....most of those who get on are bent and cheat

  4. I see he's gold plated the salaries for the staff in his support team. A PA at RBKC on £40K is unheard of - and as for the head of office on £60K, goodness only knows how that one got through.

RBKC prides itself on using a very transparent job evaluation scheme and as I was once familiar with it, I struggle to see how these roles might have attracted the salaries they have. I also find myself wondering how transparent the recruitment process was. Gone are the days of Marie James checking applications and references for grammar and punctuation and nit picking through the detail of every appointment in case she was able to find a discrepancy that would allow her to veto the appointment so probably anyone gets appointed these days.

Maybe it's time for a FOI Act request if anyone wants to make one?

  5. The Dame has removed a comment made about Cllr Dent Coad as it is clearly defamatory. I will be assisting this cllr should she wish to trace the comment and provide the name of the maker to her solicitors

    1. Yes please Dame, I would like to see the comment and will then consider what to do next.

  6. The salaries quoted are the total cost to taxpayers. They include office, NI, pension contributions.

  7. The sooner there is a change of leader the better for all residents of RBK&C. It cannot be right that there are no time restraints as far as terms of office are concerned. I just cannot abide people who are paid a lot of money for failure. Maybe if UKIP do manage to take a couple of seats or more then it may shake a few things (and people) up at that cosy little back water by the name of Hornton Street.

  9. Thank you Dame Hornet - the comment about me is also defamatory so would love to see its provenance!

  10. Yes the police must be involved in this, after all the resources that has been spent in the last year on journalists phone hacking, Saville and FOI requests from one resident I am sure we could spend some more money finding out who wrote these "defamatory" remarks.

By the way what were those remarks?

  11. The remarks have been cached with the help of the Dame, and those involved will be discussing the issues to decide how to proceed.

It is not the first time this type of comment has appeared on this website.

The only matter for discussion at this point is not IF, but WHEN.

  12. Justin Downes....nice family!!

"Roger Downes was a particularly unpleasant man during his lifetime, a debauchee, a boaster and swaggerer, aggressive and quarrelsome, one of Charles II’s loose-living cronies. He was known as a ‘scourer’, one who swaggered about the streets of London looking for unarmed and defenceless people whom they could attack with their sword, slicing off an ear or slitting a nose for the sheer delight it gave them as sport. Even ‘the watch’ though armed themselves, forerunners of the police force today, avoided them whenever possible, because the royal privilege overlooked any crime a ‘scourer’ might commit."

  13. What a stuff of un-ambiguity and preserveness of precious familiarity on the topic of unpredicted feelings.
