NO JOKE! CLLR COCKELL SEEKS 'MR INDEPENDENT'

The Dame has had her attention drawn to an advertisement ordered by Sir Pooter Cockell. It is for  Mr or Mrs 'Ethical'.
EX MAYOR OF RBKC...ETHICAL CHAP
Sir Pooter tells us it is to ensure that the Council maintains its 'high ethical standards'-and to ensure, one assumes, that councillors, like ex Lamont and Phelps, are kept out!

So who will appoint this paragon? We all know how the late and unlamented Standards Committee was stuffed with Pooters' poodles so we can assume that this appointment will be overseen by Pooter...what a waste of time!

Pooter tells us...
.....we also wish to recruit someone with both an understanding of people, behaviour and what motivates them. These are the qualities.....

  • fair-mindedness and impartiality
  • mature and sound temperament
  • good communication skills
  • commitment and reliability
.....qualities generally unseen amongst the current bunch of councillors! Hopefully, whoever is chosen, will revisit some of Pooter's lavish expenses to prepare him/her for the job!

What a joke....

  2. Unfortunately it is not a joke. Its currently the lead story on the Council website.

  3. About a year ago the Council abandoned the Standards Committee but kept on the dreadful Chairwoman in a temporary capacity as "serving Independent person" until a replacement could be found. Of course the dreadful Chairwoman graciously accepted. And now residents learn of this new development. What can it mean?

When Leaders want to hold on to power and avoid the risks of "unsound" people joining the ranks, there are tried and tested procedures to achieve this. Usually the first step is to announce the intention to change. The second stage is to look in secret for a convenient person to fill the position. This is called "taking soundings". When this person is found the third stage is to advertise the post and invite the convenient person to apply. A veneer of transparency is demonstrated and the convenient person gets the job. In this case there is a discouragement for too much competition. The post is advertised at "£500 per year and a long term appointment". Rewards will be more subtle. Tea at the House of Lords? It is called the patronage society and has very little to do with standards in public life.

    1. This is more of Cockell fixing the system and it stinks. If an Independent Person is to be appointed to make sure that Councillors adhere to a Code Of Conduct, the first priority is that this should be an independent appointment. And not another poodle joining the ranks. Surely this bombed out Leader of K&C can realise that he cannot be seen to be appointing the person who will oversee his standards of behaviour?

      What a joke

    1. Why on earth does K&C need an "Independent Person"? The Council website says that Hammersmith already has one and so "we want one too". What about the tri partite? Surely K&C could use the Hammersmith "Independent Person"?

    2. Of course not. Pooter wants to do more "patronage". Its what the rat is all about

  9. Dame, not strictly on message, but have you heard if Mayor Buffy Buckmaster (close friend of fiend Phelps) has invited the rodent to his Christmas Party at the Town Hall? Paid for by council tax....

    1. Stop trying to bash Buckmaster. He is doing an excellent job as Mayor. The Christmas Party has come and gone and no sign of Phelps.

  10. Very glad to hear this. Once again the Dame has carried the day and at least on this point the Town Hall has done the right thing.
