WE NEED A LONG PERIOD OF SILENCE FROM JOHNSON

Boris Johnson is on manoeuvres.

He gives his first two pieces of wisdom in the Mail (1) that the Tory Party has an infinite capacity to reimagine itself and (2) it should have nothing to do with Farage.

Johnson knows that there is no room in this 'reimagined party' for the two of them. He is now preparing the groundwork for his triumphant return. He really is a plonker.

The world has moved on. He has nothing to offer anyone. We are all tired of his vaudeville style of politicking.

In contrast, Starmer looked prime ministerial as he took over the reins of power.

The Dame suspects that Sir Kier is a hard man and will demand results. If the likes of Lammy and Rayner prove to be liabilities he will quickly ditch them.

The Dame would like to meet Lady Starmer for 'tea and fancies'. She sounds like a real power behind the throne....

  1. Exhausted Tory activists are entitled to ask of Boris. "Where were you in the six weeks of the campaign mate?" They should not be willing to now take advice from a man who sat on a Sardinian beach while his party went down in flames

    1. Johnson is a vile opportunist!
He should be shafted once and for all.

  2. Rather than his own laziness BoJo wrote: "I am afraid that the cheroot-puffing Pied Piper of Clacton has played a significant part - as he no doubt intended - in the destruction of the Tory government."

I shall never understand why so many Tories erroneously conclude that Johnson is their only prospect of success. Sensible politicians with ideas of substance is what is needed and not chaotic, charismatic, razzmatazz. Johnson cannot get himself across the most basic of details. A lying disaster who suffered a monumental shafting for very good reasons.

    1. In her bid to become the next leader of the Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch has today vowed to fight the fictional character Doctor Who: “When you have that type of cultural establishment trying to keep Conservatives down, you need someone like me who’s not afraid of Doctor Who or whoever, and who is going to take the fight to them and not let them try and keep us down.”

  5. It is a problem for the Tories’that they have multiple false prophets like Boris Johnson circulating the smoking crater into which they just impacted.

  6. Boris, it’s the entire clown show that’s caught up with us!

  7. Given the disasters that have happened in both parties since they allowed the membership to choose the party leader , is there not a good case to let Parliamentarians to choose their own boss . ( This could be balanced by guaranteeing that the local membership shall in all cases choose their own candidates - and never having one imposed ) ?

  8. The Tory Party needs a leader with both feet firmly on the ground. A lurch to the far right will achieve nothing. When Labour lurched to the hard left with Corbyn, no one wanted it except Marxists and Trots.

  9. The average UK citizen knows one thing for certain; Johnson is incapable of speaking the truth. Decades from now, the general public still will remember 'Partygate.' While grannies died alone; 10 Downing St was awash with alcohol and jolly good fun!!! One party could have been forgiven; but not 12!

  10. The only big thing about Boris is his ego. His top dog mentality is only rivalled by EDC. He has an overinflated view of his abilities and believes that by going on "Have I got news for you" and being funny is all that it takes. Emulating a Churchillian style comeback will not serve the Tories well. He is yesterday's man, yesterday's disaster.

The public cannot stand another bash at bluff, bluster, buffoonery and very calculating lying. The Tories need someone statesmanlike and not a calculating buffoon.

  11. The Tories are in a huge mess. We need one, maybe two, Parliaments to re group, sort ourselves out, and squash poison dwarfs like Johnson. In the meantime, British democracy has worked superbly well, a smooth transition of power, and a fair wind to the new Government.

With the perspective of history, I wonder if the Liberals are re emerging as the political party of the future? They could learn some lessons from the Starmer turnaround at Labour. Starting with an overhaul of their candidate selection process and getting high potential people into their pipeline. An easier job now that they are starting to get noticed.

    1. It might help if they found a leader who did not find it necessary gaining coverage by playing to the gallery. A senior political leader behaving like a idiot kid is not a good look

I, one hundred percent, agree 11.37.

All of those silly stunts from Ed Davy added nothing of any value or significance.

It was just one step removed from Johnson's stupid stunts.

    3. You're right about ED Davey's behaviour. The trouble is Davey and the Lib Dems think they are on a roll because they now have so many more seats. They now think the silly stunts work just because they have had a change in electoral fortunes.

Does personality politics serve us well? No.

Do charismatic politicians serve us well? No

  12. It's truly astonishing that even now, many Tories still don't understand the levels of hatred their 14 years of arrogance; self indulgence and lying have engendered in the general population.
The poor can't feed their children; the young can't find a home and the sick can't find treatment. And they lie.
    I could go on.

  13. Rachel isn't much better.

My partner lived in the same block of flats as B & R's mother, and they were great friends. She got into the small lift and Rachel got in after her. The door closed.

What to do? She could have said 'Hello Rachel, are you visiting your mother?' but judged that would have been too familiar, so she just smiled. Rachel cut her dead, turned her head and ignored her.

We little people should know our place.

    1. I never knew that Rachel was nasty like that. I wish she would stop doing that dead pan act when she makes a point- it comes across as very affected and false- whereas her sister has a different demeanour. I think she is a very clever Economist.
