WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MR & MRS MOFFATT

The likes of Mr and Mrs Moffatt should find somewhere else to live....they are not Chelsea people: in fact, they would be much more at home in Totteridge....if that doesn't offend Totteridge folk.

The Dame wishes to applaud Cllr Husband his colleagues for seeing off Moffatt, a property developer and his plans to install 'apartment style' mega boats and drive out the long-term 'normal' Chelsea dwellers.

It is high time this priceless piece of river became a community asset to protect it once and for all from Moffatt and his money-making schemes.

Chelsea Yacht and Boat Company told the Standard it will appeal the decision “taken by a small group of councillors against the advice of RBKC’s own officers, leader and legal experts”.

  2. These comments seem to suggest that the Leader, Cllr Campbell supports the Moffatts. Can someone clarify? Well done Husband

  3. James Evans who was murkily involved in the sad demise of Douglas & Gordon is a good mate of Moffatt. Birds of a feather flock together! Both of a certain type...mad about money

RBKC has agreed to issue an eviction notice for three “megaboats” in Chelsea Reach harbour. Cllr James Husband said the megaboats gave a “sense of enclosure” for neighbouring houseboats and would change the outlook of the River. A spokesperson for the Chelsea Yacht and Boat Company, said: “The RBKC Council Leader, planning team and expert legal advisors have all confirmed that no planning breach has occurred with the three vessels involved in this dispute.” The Council now may be open to challenge at appeal, including all the associated costs.

    1. The leader and deputy leader appear to have forgotten who elects them, who selects them and who they ultimately serve.

In any other country their behaviour, as well as that of the Council officers involved, would be described as corrupt. But apparently such corruption only happens abroad.

  5. Well done the Dame for highlighting these vile scumbags, the Moffatts. Andrew Moffatt is know widely now as the 'Rachman of the River'. He and his wife's unrelenting persecution, plus vulgar defacing, of a much-valued historic community is beyond disgraceful. Well done to Councillor Husband too, we also salute you!

  6. This is indeed offensive to Totteridge folk. Why should we be associated with property developers driven entirely by personal enrichment, regardless of the ruinous impact on upstanding members of the local community, and who happily flout the protections that would normally apply in any proposed development?

If a property developer wishes to significantly alter the visual/environmental impact on their neighbourhood, even for a single property in a side/back street, then he/she must submit a planning application which the local authority will publish, inviting those immediately affected as well as those from the broader area to comment or object. If it were to affect a community of 60 dwellings this would surely give rise to the need for a public consultation, with no doubt an opportunity for locals to meet publicly to air any concerns.

Why would we welcome developers driven only by personal gain who laugh in the face of such protections of the established community? Apart from which why would our local representatives, who are elected to safeguard our interests, even consider such narrowly self-interested abuse of the protections that exist? One can only speculate as to the motivations behind any acquiescence to proposals that so demonstrably fly in the face of the public good. That is not something that can remotely be considered desirable in Totteridge or indeed any self-respecting community.

The likes of Mr and Mrs Moffatt are NOT welcome here.

  7. I see that the Moffatts spend considerable time ingratiating themselves with the Chelsea Society...one can speculate on their motives

  8. The elected members have understood the concerns of local people very well, but the paid officials have not.
