ANOTHER KILLING AND A POINTLESS STATEMENT

recovered by police in World's End

This above is for whoever cannot understand what a bladed weapon is. Frustrating for the police to recover this and know the carrier will get a derisory sentence

Elizabeth Campbell wrote the below about the killing in North Kensington...not terribly confidence-inspiring and really quite pointless.

This blog has consistently pointed out that the only way to stamp out knife crime is to impose the very heaviest penalties.

Carrying a bladed weapon in a public place should carry a mandatory sentence of 8 years.

Using a bladed weapon a minimum of 15 years.

Over the lives of successive Conservative governments, crime has soared.

Campbell should be backing harsh sentences rather than boring us all with her meaningless statements.

Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council, Cllr Elizabeth Campbell said:

“I have been shocked and saddened by the news that a man was stabbed and killed in our community last night. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“Council officers will be working alongside the police today to provide an increased presence in Kensal Road and the surrounding area to support and reassure residents.

“There is no place for violence on our streets. I would like to reassure residents that we hear and understand their concerns over safety. We are working every day alongside the Police to make people feel safer with more visible on street uniformed presence and collaborative working with other authorities.”

  1. A person should not be convicted if the knife was carried for a lawful reason.

  2. What an idiotic comment. Have you no brain? The context is violent use. Dame, you really should moderate comments of foolish people.

    1. The Dame calls for: Carrying of a ‘knife’ in a public place should carry a mandatory sentence of 8 years.

    2. The Dame writes: Carrying a bladed weapon in a public place should carry a mandatory sentence of 8 years. Perhaps the Dame can explain how, in her world, people take home the kitchen knives they buy?

    1. All knifes can be ‘bladed weapons’.

    2. Don't be a dimwit. The police and Courts know precisely what a 'bladed weapon' looks like even if you don't!

    3. The Dame has not thought this through!

Definition of a ‘bladed weapon’ can include knives, swords, axes, daggers, and other similar types of tools or instruments. A ‘bladed weapon’ can be used in various forms, including as tools for outdoor activities, from work to sport.

    4. The King even uses a ‘bladed weapon’ (a sword) for ceremonial purposes!

    5. Nonsense. The King's sworded is blunted. Just because you are embarrassed by your inanity there is no reason to drag in all sorts of silliness. We all know what a 'bladed weapon' look like even if you don't

    6. Yes, we all know a 'bladed weapon' can include knives, swords, axes, daggers, and other similar types of tools or instruments. We also can read the Dame's words: Carrying a bladed weapon in a public place should carry a mandatory sentence of 8 years.

The Dame is calling for people who carry a bladed weapon in a public p[lace (for work, for ceremony, for sport etc) to be criminalised.

    7. SHOULD....NOT WOULD

    8. Yes, the Dame writes: Carrying a ‘bladed weapon’ (such as a knife) in a public place SHOULD carry a mandatory sentence of 8 years. Effectively restricting the current lawful transportation of knives through public places.

    9. I re-read and she did not say(such as a knife) It is up to the police and CPS to decide whether the carriage of a bladed weapon in a public place falls withing the legislation

    10. A knife is a 'bladed weapon'.

  4. I read this statement and apart from Campbell trying to horn in to a tragedy it was difficult to see what she was trying to achieve. Much better to come from a senior police officer rather than some council leader looking for fame

  5. Empty gesture pr from wishy-washy Dizzy birdbrain . An opportunity for calling to the government for tougher sentences for carrying bladed weapons wasted. Kim Taylor Smith would have handled this better.

    1. Many people carry a knife (bladed weapon) for lawful reasons. For example, for work. How is this policy - the Dame and you (Anonymous 26 October 2023 at 19:41) - going to work in practice?

    2. Anyone remember the Grenfell vigil after the fire? Dizzy snubbing the vigil and locals but standing right outside and chatting to the media instead before running off when people came up to her. Taylor-Smith by contrast ignored the media went to the vigil and talked to the locals

    3. so 22.38...it will work in practice through police common snese

      Delete
    4. It should be common snese (SIC) that a person should not be convicted if the knife was carried for a lawful reason. The Dame seems to have lost her common snese (SIC) in this posting.

    5. are you having issues with sense? No one will ever be convicted if they have a lawful reason. Are you a bit thick or just simple?

    6. What kind of a job do you have to carry a knife such as that ?

      Delete
    7. Loads of jobs use knives including meat and food processing, farming, warehousing and construction..

    8. and loads of jobs require shotguns and rifles but the police don't go around arresting gamekeepers. Now go and hide away. You embarrass yourself

    10. Thank you. You express exactly why the Dame is wrong to simplistic call for: “Carrying a bladed weapon in a public place should carry a mandatory sentence of 8 years.” (knives are bladed weapons). You too don’t want the police going around arresting people in meat/food processing, farming, warehousing or construction.

      Delete
    11. That knife is not used for meat processing and what farming is there on the worlds end ?

    12. A knife (bladed weapon) is a tool like any other ever invented. They are neither good nor bad. They are static until put to use by a human being. But the Dame in favour of ‘a mandatory sentence of 8 years’ for ALL ‘carrying in a public place’. It is people PLUS knife (bladed weapon) that are the cause of stabbings.

Now let's think about a country without the ability of carrying knives (bladed weapons). How do you cut your meat? What do you use to whittle or cut rope. Vegetable chopping and dicing are really difficult with a spoon!

Dame please use your reason. Calls for change need to make the average persons life better.

  6. Liz Campbell lives in a huge townhouse in Sloane Square. Why does she keep referring to the social-housing-ridden Kensal Town as ‘our community’?
