UP TO 2 YEARS IN JAIL FOR CARRYING A MACHETE OR ZOMBIE KNIFE!

Colourful Carnival Machete Dancing

So, if you carry a machete or Zombie knife you could get up to 2 years in jail....unless you have an excuse for wandering around with either.

So what could the excuse be?

Leaving aside the fact it has taken this dimwitted and corrupt government 13 years to do anything about knife crime does it really think this a deterrent?

At Notting Hill Carnival it was clear that machete carriers had no fear of the consequences of carrying bladed weapons

The penalties should be 10 years for carrying either of these disgusting murder weapons or any other bladed weapon.

Knife crime is rampant in the Kensington constituency so Felicity Buchan needs to step up and justify these pathetic sentencing guidelines.

The penalties are an insult to law-abiding citizens and victims.

  1. The Caribbean culture is intrinsically homophobic. Many of those attending carnival object to Gay Pride. At least at Gay Pride, no one carries blades, spits on police officers or sexually assaults the police.

    4. Doesn't sound like 08.51, 15.48 or 16.37 have ever bothered to attend Notting Hill Carnival. As usual it's just fakery, gross exaggerations and another nasty angle of attack by selfish prejudiced self-entitled people from Knightsbridge, Chelsea & Belgravia.

    5. I made the comment at 08.51. I did not write the other comments.

      Now for the facts.

I have attended the Notting Hill Carnival and been queer bashed. Lovely law abiding people! I had my jaw broken and my eardrum perforated by two Black men.

Peter Thatchell will confirm that in Jamaica if a gay man is murdered by the family the police decline to investigate the matter. The Home Office Immigration and Nationality Division will grant asylum seeker status to Black Jamaican gay men and lesbians under the "special characteristics" provisions in the regulations.

Two Black gay men went to a pharmacy in Jamaica.a Lynch mob followed them. The Pharmacist called the police. The police turned up and had a go at the gays and arrested them.

    6. It is not racist to call out homophobia. 12.51 needs a lesson in equalities training. I hope they are not a member of the Kensington Labour Party. I hear that homophobia reared its ugly head there last year.

    8. I am a Prison Officer working in a Young Offenders' Institution. Homophobia is a problem with Black Boys. Some of them who manage to use the term "gay" use it in an insulting way. They learn homophobia at their mother's knee. I know what I am talking about.

The man wielding the machete in the picture above is every bit as bad as the thugs who knifed and murdered Stephen Lawrence and the thugs who knifed and murdered the late Phillip Lawrence outside his school in the 1990's.

The Black Lesbian writer, P.J. Samuels, was granted asylum by the Home Office because the Jamaican State would not protect her from her parents who who were intent on murdering her because she is Gay.

Anyone who claims that West Indian homophobia is not a problem needs to get their heads out of their backsides. The Caribbean culture is homophobic and most gays do not want to celebrate that culture. And that is nothing to do with racism or in coming from Knightsbridge or Chelsea.

    10. I hope the Prison Officer above is putting these homophobic louts on report in the YOI where he works. Prisons are supposed to rehabilitate people. Disciplinary consequences should keep in check the bad attitude of these yobs towards Gay Men.If they want to be homophobic, there has to be a price to pay. Perhaps, HM Inspector of Prisons will address homophobia in male Prisons and YOI's.

Being gay is illegal in over 70 countries and that's an international disgrace but you are attacking only the Caribbean. I've been to carnival with my partner and dressed up in costume with makeup and we've never had any problems.

    12. I was queer bashed. I have worked with lots of Black people and been treated disgracefully at work. No, I am not a racist. I just tell it like its is. I am anti apartheid veteran too. Glad you enjoyed the carnival and had a good time.

    13. PS. When we talk about the "Carnival," we are talking about "Caribbean" culture, not the cultures of the many African and Arab countries that also criminalise homosexuals. I can assure you that I rail against all homophobic countries and all people who are homophobic. There is no point mentioning the execution of gay men in Justice Square in Iran when talking about Caribbean culture. The two things are separate in existence. I can assure that I have many Black friends, from both the Caribbean and Africa, who understand the point that I am making; some are gay, some are straight. I hope you and your lover never have to endure being queer bashed and told "This is what we do to the queers in Jamaica."

  2. Stop the Carnival.30 August 2023 at 09:12

Why has no Member of Parliament for Kensington or Leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council ever had the guts to tell it like it is about the Notting Hill Carnival?

The Carnival has outgrown the streets of Notting Hill. Every year, we have more of the same:-

Residents having to board up their homes and leave for the weekend.

Residents with gardens having to remove the human excrement from their gardens when the celebration of Caribbean culture is over.

Businesses having to board up their shop fronts and leave for the weekend.

    Knifes are brandished and used.

Police Officers being abused, assaulted, spat on and even sexually assaulted.

People are sometimes murdered at some annual Carnivals.

People requiring hospital treatment for life threatening injuries.

Carnival goers are unable to police this out of control event. A minority of carnival goers spoil it for the majority. Contrast that with some of the working class men who go to football and rugby matches and manage to keep some of the hooligan element in check at those events.

Anyone who attends Gay Pride to celebrate homosexuality and goes there looking for trouble is dealt with by other participants. The Police which are known for homophobic elements in its ranks do not dread policing Gay Pride. No one takes knives to Gay Pride.

    1. Get things into perspective NIMBY. Shall we ban all outdoor public events unless they are mainly attended by posh white older people? Ask the council why they haven't provided adequate toilet facilities again and why there wasn't a proper guide supplied to all residents and businesses well in advance like previous years.

    5. Defecating in someone's garden does not become acceptable because it is associated with Notting Hill Carnival. Why didn't the Carnival Organisers insist the Council provide enough toilets?

Cats defecate in my garden. The cat is an animal. But carnival goers are not animals. Why did carnival revellers who needed to empty their bowels think it was alright to dump their excreta in someone's garden and put that householder to the expense of removing it. 11.07 take heed.

That might be a very foolish assumption to make on her part. I remember well how Sir Malcolm Rifkind would toady up to the old thing inviting her to the House for tea.

I don't think the very classy Emma Dent Coad of aristocratic descent would like to be associated with cheap tea and fancies in the Commons' Tea Rooms. Emma told us that Diane Abbott bought her a cream fancy as a pat on the back for racially abusing Baron Bailey of Paddington.

Chateau Cheval Black is a lovely wine, but rather pricey.

Did Emma Dent Coad invite the Dame to the Commons for dinner? I heart that she runs to a bottle of Blue Nun or Spanish Plonk.

    1. The "posse culture" is the problem.30 August 2023 at 17:49

These posses that Black Caribbean youths join are the problem. Diane Abbott MP said as much. She justified sending her son to Public School because "Once you lose a Black boy to a gang you have lost him forever." She did not want her boy in a Hackney posse.

Diane Abbott's son did eventually go off the rails through drugs despite going to Cambridge and becoming a Diplomat.

Not all Black parents have Diane Abbott's money. They are unable to afford changing the gangland culture for the Public School. We need Black parents to deal with these dysfunctional posses which lead Black boys to knives, other weapons and drugs.

All this talk of traditional Caribbean discipline (beatings, canings and violence) of youths is not working.

      Delete
    2. Well said, 17.49. Why should we celebrate the Caribbean "Posse" Culture. They are training schools for toxic masculinity - sexism, misogyny, violence, drug taking, drugs' dealing and homophobia. Do these young Black men who join the posse have fathers who approve of this behaviour. Black boys of African heritage do not tend to join the posse.

      Delete
    3. Diane Abbott MP is not homophobic. I dislike her as a person but I know for a fact that she is not homophobic. She has never confronted Caribbean homophobia and, she knows it is an issue. Why? Diane knows how corrosive these Black Posses are and did everything possible to keep her son out of the Hackney Posse by sending him to the City of London School for Boys.

Whatever term you want to use to describe Black gangs of young men, there is no denying the homophobia endemic in them. Just listen to some of the lyrics in rap music - "death to queers" and "slap my bitch." The banning of such music is seen as effrontery to Caribbean culture.

Croydon Council came in for much criticism a few years ago because it refused to licence venues playing that type of music. Some Black People said the Council is racist - this is our (Black) music. Objections by "batty boys," so what.

  6. Go to run down parts of

    above commenters on this thread.

  7. Isn't it time that RBKC residents were asked calmly and dispassionately, if they want Carnival to continue in the underprovided streets of North Kensington or moved to a more appropriate venue? This is not to be anti black or anti Carnival but rather to point out that the huge, 2 million strong, festival is now nothing like the brave street festival of 50 years ago. This was indeed a festival of West Indian culture which fought hard to become accepted and something in which all residents could take pride.

But what we have today is a street festival neither focussed on the wishes and values of local People ( Black and White) nor really a show case for West Indian music and dance . What it has become is a street festival dominated by the very lucrative general music industry and an event to which those who make money from it pay little or nothing. Why should the local community pay for the policing and clean up for what is now a national event ? Why does anyone who asks that the national event be moved to Hyde Park and the streets of North Ken be reserved for the children's carnival and steel pan performances, expect to be drowned out in a torrent of abuse and accusations of racism ? Just asking .

with Notting Hill Carnival. Check the figures for the cost of policing, cleaning up etc then compare with the amount of money Carnival brings in. The police woman is entitled to do her job without someone thinking they can frighten her, objectify her and want to 'give her one.'

How would that disgusting piece of filth like it if a man did that to his mother or sister or if a gay man treated him like that. Bad behaviour should not be downplayed because it happened at Carnival.
