THAMES WATER POURS SEWAGE ON INQUIRY: HIDING BEHIND TOWERS WILLIS WATSON

With great gusto, an 'independent' Inquiry into what caused the catastrophic floods in July was announced....

Expensive members were appointed with Ofwat acting as ringmaster

This, 14 years after a similar flood disaster occurred in K&C as a result of negligence by Thames Water.

This Inquiry is a waste of time, money, and energy.

The letter below Thames Water's insurers makes that quite clear.

The insurers have already decided claimants have no Common or Statutory grounds for compensation.

Come on, Felicity, come back from Norway and sort this damned mess out!

  1. The letter from the Thames Water Insurers is typical of the kind of "bugger off" that small people get from big, rapacious companies. It is the kind of injustice, seeking to hide behind common law, that only politicians can challenge using the force of public opinion.

The Dame is absolutely right to call for help form our MP, Felicity Buchan

    1. Kensington Tory is right to call out Thames Water. They do not even have the decency to reply directly to a customer. Just fob them off to be dealt with by an Insurance Company that has spent huge amounts generating small print to make certain they never have to pay a claim.

One is certain about insurance. They hardly ever pay out. Makes one wonder if it is worthwhile in the first place.

  2. The Thames Water insurance company has told this resident to sod off. They have lawyers who have advised that they will fight in Court. If resident wants to waste money with the law he should think about Dobson v Thames Water, Bell v Northumberlan, Oldcom v Souther Water and Meric v Thames Water!

This is the unacceptable face of capitalism.

Worse still, the rip off is coming from a public utility. A utility that is supposed to be regulated. Well the regulator (OFWAT) should slap Thames Water on the knuckles. Very, very hard.

And Felicity Buchan MP can make a name for herself by fighting for the rights of public utility consumers and stopping shoddy and dishonest behaviour. In America the PUCs (Public Utility Commissions) would not tolerate this behaviour.

    What an attitude towards customers!!!!

    1. Clear The Swamp is on a mission. Again.

But this time he hits the nail on the head. Public Utilities operate courtesy of a Government license. The license can be taken away.

      Over to Felicty Button, MP

    2. The same flood happened 14 years ago. And the Council made an Inquiry. And nothing was done.

Except everyone forgot it happened before because everyone changed jobs.

And now Felicty Button has set up another inquiry. But the Dame has reminded this plump Member of Parliament that "talk, talk" is not enough. Residents want change.

    4. It would be a different kettle of fish if Campbell's or Dent Coad's place was ruined because drains were not cleared. One rule for the great and the good another for lesser mortals

  3. Towers Wills Watson? An insurance company?

The name gives it away. This is a litigious organ funding itself with "insurance" premiums. Nothing to do with creating peace of mind by insuring risk.

This is NOT the kind of entity that caring Conservatives should tolerate.

Dame please pass Pass the sick bag

  4. Marion Gettlesman summed up the whole situation. It rained and the drains overflowed and caused damage to property because they were blocked. And Thames Water has a contract responsibility to clear the drains on a regular basis. And Marion has a record of "no clearance".

Thames Water needs to stop obfuscating with "Case Law". Felicty Buchan MP needs to get on her bicycle and wallop the villains.
