MACKOVER WILL BE NO PUSHOVER

An outstanding feature of the Pooter Cockell 'Cabinet' was a dearth of brainpower: fools like Cockell never enjoyed being challenged so filled the Cabinet with lightweights.

The return of Sam Mackover will be interesting.

Apart from Kim Taylor-Smith the leadership team is heavyweight light.

Residents funding the £1.3 million plus a year councillor allowances budget are entitled to demand the leadership team is the very best of breed.

This means bringing Mackover on board. Don't hold your breath though. Highly intelligent free spirits like him spook mediocrities.

Mackover has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry advising companies on client management strategies, merger integration and operational efficiency.

He has had strategic planning and management experience working from offices in NY, Frankfurt, Zurich and from his London base.

Importantly he has covered the governmental sector and spent considerable time on policy development work in Whitehall and Brussels.

He also advises pro bono educational charities.

This is a very grown up CV....

  1. It is a pity that neither Emma Dent Coad, nor any of the Labour lot, come close to Mackover.

  2. We don't need Rossi or Dizzy Lizzie. We don't need Labour patronising us. Get Mackover in as asap.

  3. Henderson has more to offer than all of the Labour Councillors put together. Henderson and Mackover to run the shop, please.

  4. Regardless of Mackover's business acumen, unlike most of them at the Town Hall, he tells people straight.
Most middle class Tory and Labour Councillors haven't got a clue.
