FRENCH SUEZAGE MAKERS IN EARLS COURT

How to encourage rats

Dear Dame,

Fly tipping on our roads with fridges, microwave oven & amazon boxes has reached epidemic levels.

Six years ago RBKC and Earls Court Councillors introduced paladin bins to our roads (Penywern, Kempsford & Eardley Crescent) as a trial.

As usual, they claimed residents, with no evidence, supported the idea.

It should be noted that every household in the area have bin areas in their basements, we know this because resident associations checked that every household had these available.

There is no lack of space to place rubbish but since the introduction of paladin bins lazy and new residents dump not in the bins but next to, on or in sight of them rather than go down their steps. Paladins have created an anti-social environment encouraging those with a full bladder to urinate on our pavements, night and day!

With the Councils’ claiming 'environmental betterment' of the borough one would have thought they would have tried to limit Suez trucks coming down these roads EVERYDAY to continually empty bins as well as pick up rubbish dumped by inconsiderate residents and passers-by.

Not one person has been prosecuted for fly tipping in Earls Court and one assumes that is the same for the rest of the borough.

Not once have Earls Court Councillors bothered to deal with the constant dumping over the last six years especially when at its infancy wardens rubbed their greasy hands with glee taking the opportunity to fine residents parking near these bins even going as far to remove them from the roads

Paladin bins have swallowed up parking spaces in an area dominated by non-resident parkers.

Paladin bins with Council and Councillors' blessings have also given a green light to tipping anything from mattresses. delipidated household items, washing machines, freezers, gas canisters but as yet no sighting of a kitchen sink!

Even with this bombardment of rubbish and tonnes removed over the years Earls Court Councillors have stuck their fingers in their ears and closed their eyes.

It would be interesting to know how much fly-tipping and rubbish Suez has picked up in the last six years and how much residents have been charged, as all residents pay for the paladin bins on these three roads!

Residents are not asking for much, just for those to do the jobs they are paid for and not to ignore certain situations because they are uncomfortable or difficult to deal with.

If these bins were an attempt to try and change the bad habits of residents it has done the exact opposite.

The truth of the matter is that only thing it has done is enrich Suez and their French owners. Don't also forget it was Suezage who failed to fulfil the gulley cleaning contract contributing to the catastrophic sewage flooding.

Just two of the three councillors live in the ward so one assumes it's a case of it's not in my street so why should I care?

  1. I agree there is a dreadful problem with tipping but would like to make a few comments

Surely, we want to see the rubbish trucks out picking it up instead of leaving it to fester? Our paladin team for our road does an excellent job in regularly clearing dumped rubbish , and dumping used to go on before we had paladins as ell and at times its not by a streets residents, a check of some bags will find decorating and building materials that someone has dumped on their way home rather than pay to dump it

yes, there are vaults in basements but it is not true every resident can use them as many have been found to be sealed by Freeholders and unable to be used by leaseholders or tenants so the paladins were somewhere to put their rubbish

As for ward Councillors, the ones that cover our part of Earl’s Court have fully backed resident complaints and taken the council officers to task as its them who investigate and prosecute or should I say that’s what the officer should be doing . Residents have passed evidence of dumped waste and who dumped it and often with names and address of where it has come from, Council Officers usually at best agree to send a letter but not often but when pushed on fines say there is not enough evidence or just because it has someone name and address on it does not mean they dumped it? well when often its just outside their front door I would say there is a pretty good chance it was them

    1. Sorry which road do you claim to be on?

The reason I ask is that you said "paladin team" so must be a Councillor. Wade?

So which households do not have access to bin areas. If it is less then ten why are there 16x bins in the three roads?

There would not be as much rubbish if the paladin bins did not exist. Councillors too lazy to notify all residents by email, letter & leaflet ( in different languages) what to do with their rubbish.

Another example of a Councillor making anonymous claims without evidence. If you have evidence that any of your claims are true hand them over to the Dame to the publish.

    3. Dumping was never this prolific until the paladin bins turned up! Trying to excuse hands off approach to dumping from Council and Councillors is inexcusable.

Why have cameras not been set up to catch fly tippers when this area is constantly targeted.

  2. IF you had Mackover or Henderson representing you, they would sort out Council Officers who were not working efficiently in the interests of residents. Mackover gets to the nub of it and refuses to toe the Tory line if it is not the right thing to do.

Council Elections next year. Lets hope that some new blood enters the Tory benches and they they are more connected up than the present lot.

Paladin bins is one of a long list of inappropriate initiatives.

Lazy and disinterested Councillors leave administration and initiatives to Officers who do not "walk the talk". They do what they are told and if they are told nothing then they scratch their heads and create nonsense in order to look busy and justify their jobs.
