The stuff that is pouring out of the Council's Communications Department is as unwanted as spam. But the £130k a year head of PR has a problem.
He needs to spend his £650,000 a year budget to prove he actually has a role.
The Dame knows just a little about the PR Game. Were she running things there would never be an in-house team.
There are myriad agencies out there who would happily do whatever needs doing for £150,000 a year or less.
Mr Price-Thompson and his team are just wasting resident's taxes at a time when councils are moaning about budgets.
This waste of Council Tax is the product of "modern" Barry Quirk who believes that the world of local Government is about opinion polls, workshops, resident events and endless communications. All perfectly suited to the new fashion for Officers working from home on full pay and ignoring Councillors. In other words, a Nanny State and jobs for Barry's friends. All supported by the vapid dizzy who scored an intelligence bypass at birth. Cllr Campbell is no Mrs Thatcher.
ReplyDeleteConservatives believe in minimalist Government, small taxation, and personal responsibility. It is hard to figure out what Campbell stands for. She certainly likes to puff. She likes to feel important. And she loves Quirk to take responsibility off our hands.

In 1986, Lewisham advertised, "We are coming out to Lesbians and Gay Men." Join us at our coming out party at Deptford Albany." It was all Labour party froth. Worthless, insubstantial talk, with a big price tag. Made no difference to me as a Lesbian.
The TMO wanted Kensington's tenants to get on a bouncy castle at a TMO fun day. The TMo was never any fun. They let everyone suffer and Councillors of every political party allowed it.
