Dear Dame,
It was good to see all-party unanimity at last night's council meeting as every speaker denounced the hospital's CEO, Bob Bell and his plans for the destruction of this great hospital.
Bell's attempts to justify this asset strip were ridiculed on an all-party basis: not one councillor supported this mutilation of our medical axis of excellence.
We now need to see Greg Hands and Felicity Buchan move this up to national government.
A key and passionate speech was made by Cllr Henderson.
It will be interesting to see if 'Greg' and Felicity are true to their word......

My family and i were out clapping for the NHS and it seems like my party is trying to sell off the NHS .If this happens my family and i will never vote Conservative again . Johnson is a fraud and a liar . How dare they ! The Royal Brompton needs to stay in Chelsea and sack that awful man Bob Bell .
ReplyDeleteGreg Hands and Felicity Buchan had better deal with this or our losses in the Mayoral elections will be a disaster in Chelsea and beyond , many Conservative members are deeply upset about this - what are they thinking ! My membership will go the the Lib Dems if this happens, and many of my neighbours are saying the same thing . Outrageous behaviour at this time of a National Emergency .

ReplyDeleteBob Bell is the person responsible , he is allegedly on a huge 'backhander' if this comes off . A major property developer who has dealing's in the Borough are ready to pounce. They are doners to the Party .At what point do we decide Party or National Interest ? I never thought as a loyal Conservative, I would find myself having to make that decision. We know that a major US Medical Group is interested in the site as well . Shameful .
ReplyDeleteI don't know why you are so shocked . Look what they did to Thamesbrook . the Private development is nearly finished , a carbuncle is the only word for it. Yet the Council Care home beds that were sacrificed for overseas investors are non existent . Was the 70 plus million worth it , No ! The same will happen to the Royal Brompton that happened to Thamesbrook - knocked down with no replacement , the name sold off to the US Medical Group . Hasn't Greg Hands got strong links to the US ?
DeleteThe building on the site of where Thamesbrook used to be is monstrous . This is not in keeping with Chelsea . The edge of the building comes right to the edge of the pavement . Its overbearing and ugly. Who signed this off ? Wouldn't it be convenient if the Royal Brompton site was sold off to a Private Medical Company . International Rich people feeding off our NHS . I thought Brexit was about British people . They have got rid of the Europeans and aligned with international crooks and money launderers .Bob Bell needs to go.

ReplyDeleteThere are 5 streets in Chelsea that are full of empty accommodation just like this . 30 years ago many of the properties were given to the Royal Brompton Charity so the NHS couldn't get their hands on them . This Charity is supposed to support the hospital . What kind of Charity sits on all the empty accommodation ,which was purpose built for the staff , boards them up awaiting a sale , when the frontline staff have long journeys ahead of them after super long shifts . It must be soul destroying tramping home at 10 o'clock at night to catch the bus home - passing all the boarded up staff accommodation , that you know was meant for you . What kind of Chief Executive and Charity behaves like this ... the answer , not a proper Chief Exec, not a proper Charity . Government Inquiry please . Jail for Bell.

With the have's grinning beneficently at the have nots at the good works they are doing and expecting a pat on the back . Only this lot could sell off a Covid hospital at this time of a pandemic. ReplyDeleteThis is so stupid . Poor people cannot afford to live in Chelsea . If the fools who objected to the Crossrail 2 Development had not done so , the the 'Nurses' could jump on an Underground train and be home in no time . The prime land will bring in millions for the Government which is badly needed. Robert Jenrick has cleverly decided to get rid of planning departments , along with the new 30 month rule , this will bring on a planning boom just in time for the next General election . Those oldie Conservative's that live in Chelsea are just old crusties who have little bearing on what the National party decides. I have to travel to work in the City , whats the difference between me and a Nurse for goodness sake .
