LADS WITHOUT DADS ARE A DANGER TO THEMSELVES AND ALL OF US

This country wastes so much money.....
From foolish vanity projects to dodgy overseas aid projects.
Children without fathers are frequently a danger to themselves and to those around them: they are often lost souls looking for purpose.
The best ideas are always the simplest which is why we should all look carefully at this charity , LADS NEED DADS

Sonia

The founder, Sonia Shaljean has started something so simple that it should have no difficulty finding 100% funding.
Here is a great piece in the Evening Standard ES

Cllr Emma Will is a good egg and this charity is right up her street.
Emma?
How can the Council help and work with this brilliant initiative?

Why Lads Need Dads

Lads Need Dads believe prevention is crucial in reducing the growing number of boys coming from fatherless homes each year who under achieve at school, struggle with their mental health, are excluded from school or engage in offending behaviour.
At Lads Need Dads we believe in early intervention and in walking alongside boys during the critical years of 11-15. We provide a team of vetted and specialist trained mentors who work in group and long-term. A large part of our work focuses on increasing emotional intelligence and resilience, so boys can recognise and express other emotions, aside from either anger or indifference.
We provide opportunities for the boys to be stretched both mentally and physically by engaging with the outdoors and teach them practical life-skills which they get the opportunity to practice by volunteering in the community. We provide opportunities to be inspired by men from the community and to train as leaders and peer mentors.

  1. This is a major problem in K&C so how about a cutback in frivolous spending and diverting saved funds to Lads without Dads?

  2. Let's put this into perspective. The Council has wasted millions upon millions on Exhibition Rd. We now see it as a failure. Similarly, we have seen millions pumped into the silly Opera Holland Park.
£40 million more than was necessary was spent on Holland Park School....the list goes on...
Yet, this extraordinary charity-if properly funded-could turn around young lives. It's actually rather disgusting that our priorities are so skewed. This council should be seeing what it can do to help Lads need Dads.

  3. What a great idea. But a very difficult concept to make happen with volunteers and all the problems of vetting and reticence of volunteers. Father figures are of course important and they should ideally be found within the wider family of children eg uncles. Or strong mothers and grandmothers are often first class substitutes for absent fathers - this is very common in the Caribbean community in North Kensington
