CHAIRMAN OF CANDIDATES CALLS THE DAME

The Dame's telephone tinkles....
It's young Damian Collins, a CCHQ big wig wanting some advice.....

"Dame, you're a wise old bird.
Ex Cllr Moylan and Cllrs Taylor-Smith and Weale have pushed themselves forward for inspection.
What do you think?"

Well, the Dame is not one to hold back and this is what she told Damian...

"Dear Boy, is it sensible to have as candidates three so intrinsically linked to one of the greatest tragedies of our time? I think not....
Former Cllr. Moylan is a man of many mysteries as well as being the deeply unpopular deputy leader of the Council....so unpopular, in fact, he was 'blackballed' in the leadership battle....oh and a fervent Brexiteer and leading light in the Bruges Group.

Cllr Weale has a well-earned reputation for indolence. "hard work never killed anyone but I am not going to test the claim" she is reported to have joked.....

Another, when challenged by residents was, "we hear but don't listen".

Deputy Leader Kim's political credentials are somewhat thin besides which he will be heavily engaged in defending the Council's role over Grenfell."

Will young Damian listen to the wise old Dame or will he allow the Association to put forward three candidates all with Grenfell baggage?

  1. The Association must be bonkers to even think about these three.
Besides being as the Dame say tarred with Grenfell they are desperately ordinary. Moylan has tried and tried for a seat and always turned down.

    1. What a farce. I don't get off on any of them. All are droopers and poopers.

  2. Oh no!

A Has Been; a Never Was; and a Never Will Be. Where on earth do these three think they are? Benidorm??

The Tory Party in Kensington is in deep trouble if this is the quality of applicant surfacing in the hope of being the next Member of Parliament for the Royal Borough. Fortunately, the Dame's sources reveal that the list of applicants is long, there are some quality people and some distinguished people. The election Committee needs to weed out the charlatans (like the three names listed above) and present three good names to the Association Membership for final selection on Thursday 11th July

Surely some mistake here? Why is Central Office wasting time with dust?

    I sense a plot.

Are these candidates not tried and tested and not fit for purpose?

  8. Dear Dame,

The BBC reported yesterday that the survivors of the Grenfell Tower disaster had commenced legal proceedings in the United States of America against the manufacturer of the cladding, the manufacturer of the insulation material and, Whirlpool, the manufacturer of the fridge that caught fire in one of the flats on that dreadful night.

Similarly, last night the BBC reported that the Metropolitan Police has stated

There is no guarantee that criminal charges will be brought over the Grenfell Tower fire.

I understand that criminal charges cannot be laid until the Inquiry has completed its work. I also understand that any prosecution will involve complex matters of law and evidence.

I believe it was Edmund Burke who said, "Where mystery begins, justice ends."
It will take the forensic brilliance of Sir Martin Moore-Bick to guide us to the truth as to where faults lie.

The Selection Committee has received more than 100 applications to become the Tory candidate for Kensington MP. Anyone in the Council who was involved with Grenfell (eg Taylor-Smith, Weale, Moylan) should be bypassed. Too much risk of controversy after the Grenfell Report is published. Hostage to fortune.

My grand mama always advised the grand kids. "Get over the crush. There is madness in that family"
