CAPCO AND KHAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT

Dear Dame,
On Next Door in Earl's Court there is a post from local election Council candidate Bruno de Florence (Labour) saying that Emma Dent Coad was invited to the event this evening but has declined to go.
Good for her!

Capco is a partner in London First and is sponsoring this big bash tonight at Labour Conference.
So much for all change under Jeremy Corbyn: developers still come first.

Keynote speaker is Sadiq Khan who as chair of TfL is in a JV partnership with Capco on the Earls Court Masterplan 22 acres in RBKC.

Coming after Newcombe House and with the Holiday Inn redevelopment looming, as well as a revised Earls Court Masterplan coming in Spring 2019, Khan's direction of travel is pretty obvious.
2,000 people's homes on the West Ken Gibbs Green estates are under threat of demolition.
The Earl's Court site is a dust bowl, lying empty when it could be used to bring business and fun back to the area on a temporary basis.

  1. Dear Dame, here are details of this evening's event sponsored by Capco. "Refreshments and a generous buffet will be provided." Ooh, a generous buffet, how marvellous! Will attendees demolish the trestle tables whilst feasting on Social Cleansing Canapes with Heritage Croutons washed down with some Dust Bowl Punch? https://www.londonfirst.co.uk/news-publications/events/the-london-reception-at-labour-party-conference

  2. When Mr Khan was running for Mayor it was clearly stated at that time

    “ ’ .”

He now refuses to do so stating that he cannot review it because it already has permission, so is he lieing now or was he lieing during his campaign ? So it will only be looked at if Capco present a new Masterplan next year and again local residents and businesses views are still being ignored and those who would prefer a different type of development are called activists and agitators by local conservative councillors and Capco.

We now have an equally worrying matter and that is Alison "flighty" Flight the one who was an RBKC planning officer and was seen celebrating with Capco when they got planning permission and who told the planning committee to ignore residents objections to 24/7 working as we had no right to object , that lady is now on Khans Planning and Development team having moved there from RBKC, also on the team are other developer friendly staff so the future is looking bleak for Londoners

Ms Flight can now with her colleagues wreak havoc across all London boroughs as opposed to being confined to RBKC ( the Royal Borough of Keltbray and Capco)

The event Mr Khan is a speaker at is a select event by London first to decide Londons future etc and its partners are all big business, there is no representation of residents or small business , so again their voices are blocked

City hall sadly appears to be as much in bed with developers as it was under its previous resident Boris

    1. For some reason my Sadiq Khan passage/quote turned to question marks so will put it again here, what he said when campaigning and has now gone back on

“Sadiq will review the Earl’s Court Masterplan as he has serious reservations about the overall direction the scheme is taking.”

  3. I would not judge the fact that EDC is not attending this as being any signal of support for the Local Earls Court Community. She was afterall around when permission was granted in the first place. As for Sadiq can do nothing...he is utterly useless. We have been buried in the supposedly'non existent' yellow dust that no doubt contains large amount of toxins which will have an impact on residents health. There is nothing in place to measure this independently or assess the health needs of people who live in this area whilst the demolition and the now silent sands of earls court blow across our community. There is no infrastructure within this greedy build, no extra schools, colleges, health services,or transport and no compensation for residents who have had to tolerate it all. The interesting question would be how much money is this council receiving in Section 106 money or other golden handshakes that local residents should be benefiting from and by that I mean Earls Court Ward not anywhere else in the Borough getting? This needs to be looked into? Sick of the lot of them.

    1. RBKC is sitting on Section 106 money none of it used in the area it was granted for , RBKC are aware local businesses are closing down due to the loss of business from earls Court and are aware that Business rates have gone up over 110% yet say they cannot get involved and speak on behalf of business to the valuation office stating they are part of government and the council are not allowed to !!!

With regard dust the council denied there was any, Malcom Spalding actually said of his flat in Philbeach Gardens about dust that there wasn't really any as he "did not have any dust on top of his piano" he was very pro Capco has lobbied for a Business Improvement District which would mean businesses who cannot afford their rates actually having to pay more Spalding published a report that he and Capco allegedly did claiming 50% of local Business want a BID and 70% are interested in it, when asked no local business recalls ever being asked by him or Capco . Just more developer backed lies by him

Regarding dust RBKC stated there was none and any there was was due to the wind blowing the wrong way, they also said that the residents of Eardley Crescent were a "dirty lot anyway"

the whole project is corrupt that's without going back to how a listing was refused which was a conflict of interest as English heritage used a guy to do it who recommended its demolition, that same guy had Capco as major clients, quelle surprise.

They talk of submitting a new master plan ( those words have horrid connotations ) I think sod a master plan its about time police looked into how they got planning originally ? bullying homeowners into selling in some streets was just one tactic they used.

    2. I initially saw the info on the Earl's Court Nextdoor facility. I immediately checked that it was correct with Emma DC, presently in Liverpool at the Labour conference. She confirmed that it was, and I posted her response on Nextdoor. I further discovered that the Capco/Khan event is organised under the so-called Commercial Visitors scheme, allowing businesses to hire a space at Conference. See on:

    3. Business rates have gone up over 110%?!
No wonder we see many empty shops on Kensington High Street. The area is supposed be one of the richest.

    4. @Anon - if you speak to many of the businesses you will find their rates have gone up that amount some even more. Those in Earls Court I have spoken to are suffering as the exhibition centre was pulled down and the loss has really damaged their business but the VOA refuse to acknowledge it that's why so many places have shut and so many been replaced with estate agents instead. The High Street is similar plus the rents have gone up for many which is why we are seeing so many chains in difficulty as Landlords will not budge and in reality many rents are way in excess of what they really should be. The High Street is a shadow of its former self.

    6. Up Yours is the sad, bumbling Cllr Palmer who likes to imagine himself as some hard nosed capitalist when the only gainful employment he has is paid for by us council tax payers

Excellent research as usual from "ThisisNorthKensington. These links are absolutely appalling. No effort to conceal what is going on - just a blatant two fingers to democracy from the various property groups, developers and lobbyists

Even worse is the list of "insiders" like Fielding-Mellen and Moylan who seem to be "reaching understandings" with the developers and their agents.

It is just awful that the Leader, Cllr Campbell, is not setting an example by doing simple things such as banning Councillors and Officers from accepting gifts, entertaining, meals and hospitality from developers and lobbyists. And insisting that Officers and Councillors should never meet with developers and lobbyists on their own. This is not only a failure of leadership on Cllr Campbell's part, it is also complicit in supporting the developer lobby at the expense of community.

      It stinks.

    2. Its the corruption by power. Even the Chairman of the Kensingotn Society gets carried away by the opportunity created by the Newcombe House development to do some discrete lobbying with the Duke of Gloucester. And do some power broking between the developers and the Town Hall. Heady stuff and exciting for her. But the price is support of the developers without the support of Kensington Society members.

As Lord Acton said: "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"

    1. All of this in addition to the brown envelopes! What hope is there? Maybe we need a dose of Corbyn and Marxist John McDonnel after all.
