AN APPEALING ADVANCE

For far too long local politics has been dominated by the established political parties so when a parvenu comes on the scene with a fresh approach it's only fair to give them a crack of the whip.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
Advance is one such entrant and some of its ideas strike a chord with the old Dame.
Advance doesn't have the same access to oodles of money that Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem's have so this blog feels they should have the chance to raise campaign funds.

Please have a look and see if you feel minded to make a contribution to a new kid on the block LINK

  1. Dame. What are you thinking of? Fund raising for a failed Lib Dem? The manifesto is a collection of hopeless platitudes.

    1. Their motives are pure

    2. Totally agree! It is not the lure of swanning about in the Council Bentley, or sipping champagne with the Lords and Ladies or the wannabes of the Borough, that motivates them.

  3. No she is a failed politician living in Lambeth. Yes Lambeth. She knows nothing about K&C. What can the Dame be thinking of?

Could not be worse than the current lot

  5. Yes it can. Take a look at the awful candidates that they are fielding!

    1. We are fielding candidates who are local professional people, they are amazing individuals who want to serve their community rather than be self serving

    Isn't Simon Kelner bankrolling them?

  8. Beware before Advancing - their candidate selection group has not been adequately rigorous in the due diligence department. One bad apple may not ruin the harvest, but they risk their credibility.

    1. I understand that they have had real difficulty in recruiting candidates. I can understand why!

  9. The only effect that Advance will have will be to split the anti-Tory vote and let the Tories back in. They must be thrilled with this intervention!

  10. Yes, a number of independents won’t stand now because of Advance splitting the vote. They are very coy about who candidates are. Finally , why take such a remain position? Anyone who voted to leave couldn’t stand for or vote for Advance. They also seem to have election pledges which don’t work under the law ie phasing planning permission - are they naive? Or will they promise anything to get in.

Didn't you know 64% of residents support their "policies" and everything is "amazing".

  11. Local people for local politics. Advance gives people a choice a choice to try something different. Name calling is not the way forward, change is the way forward. We need new blood in our political system, that brings me to say out with old and in with the new!!

      Hello Annabelle

  12. So how can a person living in Lambeth be seen as being a "local" person? To stand in Kensington and Chelsea you have to be a resident of Kensington or Chelsea (or have a business here. How many of these "local" people actually are "local" and how many just have businesses here?

  13. Her Dameship's heart may be in the right place, but sentiment must never cloud her judgement.
Let’s consider her 'it's only fair to give them a crack of the whip' and see how that fits with Unknown 5 March 22:55 'Local people for local politics', and with Anonymous 6 March 22:00 'How many of these "local" people actually are "local"?'
I can't find a published list of candidates - can anyone help?
Advance must answer that, and include a descriptor with basic biography to show local status in a meaningful way eg ‘Who I am, and what I aim to do for my Ward’.
Such transparency may, or may not, help them to help us understand who and what they are.
It is discomforting to learn (or is this fake news?) that one candidate is a French citizen of Persian heritage who moved to RBKC lands a little over a year ago. I'm a fan of many matters French, with huge respect for Persian culture, but have to wonder - is such a candidate really the 'new blood', and 'choice to try something different', so many seem to seek?
Publish your candidates, Advance – let us see who you really are.
The Dame’s whip can be made to crack in different ways (so I’m told..).

  14. An 'Appalling Advance' surely - absence of credible policies, absence of credible candidates - a vanity project for Annabel Mullin and her 'team' of ex Lib Dem and Ex Labour members - all highly suspect political opportunists
