The Dame heard some good news....It seems Advance is going to be selective as to who it challenges in May.
This is good news.
There are Conservative councillors who are honest, work hard for those they represent and have pride in a job well done.
On the other hand, there are some thoroughly useless types who Cllr Mills has allowed to slip through the net.
These include Cllrs Palmer, Pascall and Weale
The less said about Palmer the better.
As for Pascall and Weale, their reputations for never interacting with those they represent is legendary!
Conservative colleagues roll the eyes heavenward when discussing Pascall's hopelessness at understanding complex planning issues.
There will be no great loss if Advance target these three; all are an expensive waste of space.
It's high time Cllr Mills stopped playing hard to get and disclosed her list of candidates.
She should also have finished off Palmer, Pascall and Weale.
The good news is that Robert Atkinson will get replaced as the leader of the Labour group after the election ..... Will we have a new leader of the council ?
ReplyDeleteListen 21.21, how do you know that Labour are going to shaft Atkinson?
DeleteThey shafted Dent Coad and then allowed the woman who they shafted to stand for Parliament.
It depends on how many seats the Labour party take, the mathematics and the will is there to get rid of him.
DeleteIs Emma Dent Coad involved in the dirty tricks to get rid of Atkinson? I hear that she is still smarting over him replacing her as Labour leader.
DeleteIt depends on which seats Labour wins and how large their Group is. Many members of the Labour Group who have safe seats (and are assured re-election) despise Dent Coad and will not back a candidate she supports (that is, a Momentum type). Labour has so far only selected two candidates in their top target ward (Chelsea Riverside) and these two are firmly in Dent Coad's pocket. Labour candidates in Norland and Pembridge are also Momentum types. So in those wards probably best to consider alternatives to Labour if you don't want the Momentum crowd taking over.
DeleteBy the way the RBKC Labour Group had nothing whatsoever to do with Emma Dent Coad's selection as parliamentary candidate for Kensington--the selection isn't made at Councillor level, in the case of the snap election the selections were imposed by Labour's National Executive Committee. Not many people tried for the selection it as no one thought the Tories could possibly lose the seat.
19:21, Emma Dent Coad is indeed trying to organise to get rid of Atkinson, that is why they have selected Corbynistas in Chelsea Riverside, Pembridge and Norland. This was orchestrated by Dent Coad and her cronies who effectively control Kensington Labour (but not the current Labour Group on RBKC).
DeleteYou are quite wrong about how Momentum many of the new candidates are. And even some of those who are Momentum also dislike Dent Coad. The arch Momentum sitting councillor is Healy and it is she who shafted Dent Coad.
Delete@ 20.22. I did know that Dent Coad was selected by the Labour Party's NEC and, not by the local Party. It beggars belief that the local Party did not complain to the NEC about Dent Coad's candidacy especially as Labour councillors had sacked her a few years ago as Party Leader on the Council. It sounds like the sort of daft thing that the Labour Party would do- impose a parliamentary candidate on the local constituency who was sacked by local elected politicians and is disliked by so many.
DeleteEDC tries too hard to be left wing and is full of contradictions that call in to doubt her so called left wing values.
20.26. Do tell us of Dent Coad's dirty tricks to get rid of Atkinson.
Is EDC in Momentum or not? I would love to know 20.22 and 20.26 is.
DeleteEDC is not an official member of Momentum but she attends their meetings whenever she can and she is supported by Momentum members who now make up the mass of the Kensington Labour Party. It was the joint Labour/Momentum members who insisted to the Labour Party that she became the candidate and not Rod Abouharb, the previous candidate who should have just been endorsed. However, events have shown that the choice of Emma was the correct one as she won the seat. Sadly we know that many of her constituents now do not think she is up to the job and complain about not receiving replies when they contact her. Advance have done a very good canvass in Holland Ward, picking up everyone who would previously have voted Labour because they feel let down by Emma.
Delete12.05. Exactly what I would expect of EDC. Run with the hare and keep with the hounds. She goes to Momentum meetings to curry favour with Trotskyites and other disparate Socialists and by not joining Momentum she keeps in with the New Labour wing of the party. I disagree with you that EDC was the right one to fight the parliamentary seat just because she won. There is nothing special about EDC's political abilities. I am certain that any other candidate could have taken the seat from the Tories. Not sure that EDC would win an election if one was held tomorrow.
DeleteNot surprised that Emma's constituents "feel let down and complain about not receiving replies" to their correspondence. She did this to me and other Council tenants who wrote to her complaining about the TMO when she was on the TMO Board.
DeleteShe's very unpopular & divisive. A poor strategist.
DeleteLatest rumour I have heard is that independents may be standing in Notting Dale and Dalgarno with behind the scenes support from Emma Dent Coad. Dent Coad would support these candidates purely because relations between herself and the Labour councillors in those wards are toxic. An independent campaign wouldn't matter however--Dalgarno and Notting Dale are safe as houses for the current Labour councillors.
DeleteIs Mrs Blakeman standing for election again in Notting Dale ward? I hear that our MP doesn't like her and cannot get on with her. If she she is trying to do down Mrs Blakeman, who is a most dedicated and capable Councillor, then Emma Dent Coad is despicable for not acting in the best interests of the Party. She is sh*t on strategy.
DeleteIF this is true she is a double crosser.
Delete21.05 No ward or parliamentary seat is as "safe as houses" for any political party in the way that you suggest. Emma Dent Coad, of all people, knows that better than anyone. She took the safe Tory seat of Kensington from Victoria Borwick. If what you say is true, she now appears to be doing the dirty as a "double agent" to get rid of those Labour Councillors she does not like. Not surprising when some of them sacked her as Leader of Labour Councillors.
DeleteOur MP does not sound like a nice person.
DeleteLet's face it, Comrade Robert looks, sounds and is as much use as Mr Blobby
Delete@13.42. Let's face it, Robert Atkinson couldn't be worse than Councillor Emma Dent Coad MP. Judith Blakeman would be a superb MP; a modest, sensible, selfless and hardworking woman qualities that the current one would do well to emulate
DeleteWhoever the sad individual is who is spending so much of their time slagging off our elected MP on this blog should get a life. Not doing themselves or the Labour Party any favours. You just look like a vindictive bully.
DeleteIn a liberal democracy people are allowed to criticise and express opinions about politicians. Politicians including Emma Dent Coad MP are entitled to reply. Your best defence of Emma should not be attack by labelling the people participating in this thread "vindictive bullies." The Labour Party is not a totalitarian regime and Party Members are on here expressing real concerns. You don't say that these individuals
Deleteare lying about Emma.
Well said 08.30. The comments on this thread are constructive and not nasty.
Delete18.08 Brand anyone who objects to Emma Dent Coad MP a vindictive bully.
DeleteWhat by a Momentum nominee?
ReplyDeleteI know the Dame and Mrs Mills are good friends. But if there is one councillor who would not be missed it is Mrs Mills herself.
ReplyDeleteDoes Mrs M. read the Dame's daily jottings?
ReplyDeleteYes of course. She is obsessed by them but pretends she is not! Typical Mrs Mills. Do one thing and say another.
DeleteThe Tories have deselected Maighread Condon Simmonds.
ReplyDeleteEve Allison, Deborah Collinson, David Campion and Barbara Campbell have also been deselected - leaving marginal wards without any incumbent councillors who have a personal vote to defend them...
DeleteGood news, but Advance and others should have a thorough look at the 'track record' of ALL of the Councillors, NOT only those who may have more press. The Dead Wood should be challenged. But, most IMPORTANTLY, the rather lazy, apathetic population of the Borough should realise that voting is a serious matter and VOTE on the day.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Badger, the right to vote is a marvelous democratic instrument.
ReplyDeleteUse it, or loose its effects.
Make sure you are registered to vote (https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote), and consider using postal voting if you can't get to your voting bureau on 3 May 2018 (https://www.gov.uk/voting-in-the-uk/postal-voting).
What are the "loose" effects of voting ? We should be told please Bruno....
Delete....and what is a voting bureau ?
Why are Advance targetting Labour councillors as well? That will surely let the Tories back into power in marginal wards. Stupid!
ReplyDeleteMaybe because they think a lot of Labour councillors are shit? Ever thought about that dimwit?
ReplyDeleteThe very sensible point being made by 17.30 is that in May we face the possibility for a Tory landslide in Kensington and Chelsea, which I think is the opposite of what most residents actually want. There are too many groups and individuals who now wish to run against the Conservatives and take their council seats from them. The difficulty is that all these disparate groups and individuals are anti-Tory, so between them they will split the vote – and the resulting winners will be Conservatives. At the moment there are 11 Labour councillors, 2 Liberal Democrats and the remaining 37 councillors are all Conservative. Some of the Labour and Liberal Democrat seats are held on very small majorities. So my forecast for the May 2018 council elections is that Labour will have 8 seats and the Conservatives will hold the rest. Probably a nightmare scenario for most of us!

ReplyDeleteWell said Sad Badger! As for Matthew Palmer, he is more regularly seen squabbling with North Kensington residents on the Nextdoor site - yes there is more and they deleted it - it is no coincidence that Catherine Faulks (who had a pathetic and tasteless Twitter war with us with regards to the Maxilla Fanily Centre and Grenfell Tower) invited 43 friends on there - no matter; we have a copy and will publish!
ReplyDeleteAs for his role on the Housing and Property Scrutiny Committee, his "contributions" appear to be purely making cheap jibes and party political points with no real insight. His council ward, Queen's Gate only has seven TMO properties in it, he has little to no expertise in social housing, yet they are part of the decision making process that will be part of the council's policies on social housing......
Because we have to pay for all of it........££££££
ReplyDeleteADVANCE was only set up because Annabel Mullins fell out with Wade and the libdems, due to their odd ideas.
ReplyDeleteProper Old Labour and libdems will all vote ADVANCE in future.
Advance is a load of PR piffle. Everything is "amazing" for the fragrant Annabelle. They have nothing to offer the beleaguered residents of North Kensington unless they are going to invite them to one of their dinner parties.
ReplyDeletePoor old Annabel "Muffin", she has been seen walking around Chelsea stuffing her little leaflet through peoples doors, one just landed on my mat. What does it say ? It says 64% of residents are going to vote for her (that is the Advance party), since I have not met anyone who has even heard of advance before today I think that quite unlikely !! The leaflet is full of fantasy, there is no question of new management being forced on council tenants, it has been made clear tenants will be able to decide for themselves. As for the spending in the hands of 8 councillors, she has not done her homework or she would know that all key spending decisions are scrutinised in public by the scrutiny committees and the council annual budget needs the vote of the full council. What a Muffin !!
ReplyDelete16.53 sound like an acolyte of Emma Dent Coad MP.
ReplyDelete8.21 You can be real confident that whatever the Labour Party says about Council tenants will definitely happen. New management will be forced on Council tenants when the housing stock is brought in to MANAGEMENT under the Council. No consultation about this. The TMO Board said it was no longer up to the job and the Council imposed direct management under the beady eye of Councillors, god help us, without any consultation.
ReplyDeleteErr - so what about the Residents' Consultation Panel, the restored Tenants' Consultative Committee and the six month programme of involving all residents in how they want their management to be conducted in future? Stop putting fake news up!
ReplyDeleteRubbish. The Residents' Consultation Panel is sh*t and exists to tick the "consultation box" that the Council requires in order to demonstrate to Central Government and others that it has carried outs some sort of consultation.
DeleteThe Tenants' Consultation Panel is a joke. It has been known to descend in to a slagging match amongst participants many of whom want power and control and try create structures for their own ends. I remember witnessing Reg Kerr Bell and Sheila Murphy have the most god almighty ding dong at one of those meetings years ago. I never went again when I saw that two TMo Board Members were trying to control things. Stop being partial with facts 09.42. No one has asked me what I want but, there again, I just pay my rent.
If I had a penny for every time that RBKC has purported to consult me about my housing but turned the so called 'consultation' in to notification of what the Council intends to do, then I would be a very rich person indeed. I have mentioned this situation to Labour Councillors who just don't get that calling something "consultation' does not mean that it is a "consultation" in any meaningful sense.
DeleteIt sounds like it was a foregone conclusion that the management of the housing stock would be taken back in house now that the TMO is in disgrace. The transfer was imposed on tenants by the Council after a meeting of TMO Company members refused to vote for the winding up of the TMO so as to safeguard the interests of Grenfell Tower residents.
Transferring the management of housing stock from the TMO to the Council was imposed from above.
09.42 accuses 08.37 of putting up fake news. The posting on here show there is nothing fake about what he or she says. 09.42 is an apologist for the council who thinks the minions will swallow that the Council consults tenants.
DeleteThe council is also ticking boxes to show the government that it is consulting about Grenfell Recovery. It has set up a Grenfell Network of community organisations based at the Town Hall that no one in the Grenfell community has ever heard of.
ReplyDeleteHas Emma Dent Coad exposed this latest Kensington Council sham in Parliament?
DeleteKensington and Chelsea Council is a past master at carrying out consultation and then failing to heed it.
DeleteThe Grenfell Network of Community Organisations that no one in the Grenfell Community knows anything about has been set up under watchful eye of Barry Quirk, the Super Chief Executive, brought in to pull this failing unethical Council round.
DeleteOn the other hand, there has been a lot of "consultation" by the Democratic (sic) Tory-run Society with other parts of the Borough. But guess what, the comments from them are also very anti-Council. So maybe they won't be able to produce the usual whitewash report?
ReplyDeleteThe Tory run Council, (and its mate the TMO) has always manipulated the data from its consultation exercises. Most shocking were some of the statistics and results that emerged from the TMO.
