WHERE DO THEY GET THESE NONENTITIES FROM?

This is the composition of the Task Force to advise the Council. Apart from Chris Wood none seem to be terribly relevant or dynamic.

Aftab Chughtai

Aftab Chughtai is chair of the West Midlands Police Independent Advisory Group. Aftab also runs a department store in East Birmingham. He received an MBE honours in this year’s New Year Honours List, awarded in recognition of his Services to Business and Community Relations in Birmingham.

The grass is nearly always greener on the other side. In times of crisis the temptation is great to bring in outside whiz kids. But the funny thing is that the best answer almost always lies inside the community. On a subject like the Grenfell disaster the best qualified task force is scattered around the community in North Kensington.

In the last few weeks Officers and Councillors have had the opportunity to meet many protesters in person, see them at meetings, and hear them on social media. A heaven sent recruitment opportunity. Some are wild, many unsuitable, and others with hidden agendas. But there is a core of solid, informed, able and well meaning residents who would willing to give their time and energy if invited into the tent.

Cllr Campbell is supposed to be the Leader of the Council. She needs to understand that the old patronage arrangement in Hornton Street for the in crowd is finished. She needs to embrace the new way of doing things. The new way of recruiting talent. The new way of leading. Otherwise she will not be around for long.

  2. The guy makes a good point. Grenfell survivors know what it is all about. Outsiders need to waste time finding out.

    1. Absolutely. As was evident at the recent council meeting and Grenfell enquiry pre-meetings, there are those hysterical with grief and shock. A few others seek to make trouble. Meanwhile a majority of deeply concerned, informed residents are qualified and willing to help rebuild their community.

Bringing in outsiders will fail firstly because they will be unable to believe how RBKC has abused its lower income residents. Answers can only come from the community. E Campbell is incapable of grasping the obvious. The KCTMO must be shut down now and housing services returned to Hornton St. Our 'foreign' new chief exec's first action seems to be to take his summer holiday. Disaster follows disaster. Campbell must go!

  3. As Mr Javed Khan claims he is Pakistani he should pop back home and sort out the problems there http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/26/pakistan-village-council-members-arrested-ordering-revenge-rape/

  5. It is nothing but cleverly arranged 'window dressing', to give the group some credibility (?) Indeed, they are nothing but a bunch of ineffective, inefficient lot, without proper grasp of the long standing problems in North Kensington. Viable community members should be 'recruited' to provide inside and historical knowledge, much needed in this very tragic case, as it goes back a long way.

  6. Chris Wood presided over the Newham shambles of their Park Police. Rebranded as Newham Community Constabulary, equipped with asps and other police gear from eBay. "Officers" would parade about the borough "arresting suspects". One kindly did so in the neighbouring borough of Barking. Thankfully after public outcry over bullying and god knows what else it got disbanded. What a joke.
