CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION KICKS OFF AT HORNTON ST
Dear Dame
The Met have served notice on RBKC that a criminal investigation has started and ordered the preservation of all documentation that pertains to Grenfell Tower. A bit late IMO as I suspect the reason that Kensington Town Hall (KTH) was not only closed at the weekend, but off limits to ALL staff, was so that the shredders could go into overdrive without pesky witnesses. I've worked at KC (based at KTH) for 25+ years and have NEVER known this to happen.
Re the Met's investigation, KC have retained expert advisors (I understand that a dozen or so QCs were to have attended tomorrow) to prepare for the investigation and Public Enquiry. Given that the Town Hall is to shut "for safety reasons" tomorrow (Wednesday), I guess the silks will have wasted their journey.
Yours sincerely
Anon KC employee

Will residents have to pay for RBKC's crack new legal team? The lawyers will spend years and millions of pounds defending RBKC councillors against their own tenants, both victims and survivors of a preventable fire. The remaining residents of this most rotten of boroughs will doubtless have to pick up the rest of the tab. Some of the cash needed will result from the £200,000 RBKC saved by failing to install a sprinkler system in Grenfell, plus £5,000 saved buying flammable cladding. Combined, these sums may cover a week's legal fees.
ReplyDeleteUnless radical action is taken, RBKC will save yet more by sending survivors to Preston or Clacton or wherever, as far away as possible.
If we find out who the QCs are, we will investigate their track records too. Keep a close eye on the way they shake hand. I hear it can tell a lot about them. ;)
DeleteNo problem. £300 million cash in the bank
DeleteThey should start at The TMO headquarters.
ReplyDeleteThey have already.
DeleteTMO directors and the Chief Executive Robert Black blocked the emails of The Grenfell Action Block when they complained about the works.
ReplyDeleteThey are responsible for the death of 76 people.
ReplyDeleteah, I hear that this figure is peddled by the Police and is drastically different from the alleged total of corpses at St Mary's morgue, assumed to be about 100... Why the shyness in presenting the proper total?
DeleteThey should be prosecuted for criminal negligence !!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are many estates in the borough where resident associations have been intimidated by the TMO for complaining about fire safety.
ReplyDeleteThe police should investigate.
ReplyDeleteWhilst they argued and threatened residents of Grenfell who had the audacity to raise their concerns, they needlessly repaved Exhibition Road with stone hewn by Chinese prisoners of conscience. Their arrogance and ignorance is beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteSurely local authorities are required to keep all records backed up in digital form?
ReplyDeleteIndeed.... but they can be wiped. A task much easier done than shredding. But, there should be a 'secondary' if not a 'tertiary' backup off-site, which may not be that easily destroyed.... let's see what happens on this score...
DeleteOur worthless councillors will doubtless hang on for as long as possible, but their 'right to rule' attitude was destroyed in the flames of Grenfell. They have neither humanity nor conscience. Paget Brown was 'persuaded' by his colleages to remain, but many others should have gone. RBKC represents nothing but corporate shame for having overseen the preventable deaths of at the very least a hundred of its most vulnerable residents. These councillors remain in Hornton Street, silent and useless, seeking to protect themselves at our expense, while doubtless continuing to collect their tidy, resident funded, incomes.
ReplyDeleteRight on.... but times are changing and their guaranteed longevity and tenure at Horton Street is not that assured anymore.... The Residents must now speak up and get rid of this ghastly self-serving vermin....Rentokil could get a nice contract out of this....
DeleteA question!
ReplyDeleteIf TMO staff are not in the office, how come this person has received this fire safety procedure letter hand delivered through her letterbox this morning? The letter was too late for 100s of people who were told to stay put by TMO, fire brigade 4 days before the fire and during the fire, even 999 operator told them to stay put.

ReplyDeleteNo changes in Hornton Street
The Council changed their Insurance provider 3 months before the fire to one that specialises in Casualty Insurance. Set to gain the biggest payout of £1 Billion.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.insurancebusinessmag.com/uk/news/breaking-news/grenfell-tower-insurance-bill-could-be-europes-biggest-ever--reports-71072.aspx
I would have believed that all corporate landlords have to have building, casualty and loss of life insurance at all times? Are you saying that their insurance prior to 3 months ago did not have that cover?
DeleteWould be nice to know.... but that should come out in the 'inquiry'....
Delete@16:22, They did have insurance with Zurich but changed to the new insurer 3 months ago. Different price and payout structure.
Delete"Although the council are claiming that they changed policy to the new company because it was cheaper, the policy with Protector was for £2.2m to be paid at £434.857 annually and the policy with Zurich was for £680,000 for a year. So that means that they paid less for their policy but even if they have to pay out the extra to make it up to the 2.2 million, they still stand to gain with a casualty Insurance which totals £1 Billion instead of £25 million. Thats a huge profit margin for a deliberate fire. Thats why the firemen were acting odd and not even firing directly at the flames, its an insurance job and a ritual sacrifice!"

Interesting... but would an Insurance company pay out claims if current fire protection and other safety regulations were NOT in place? Unless, you pay over the odds to cover this?
DeleteWas the Council expecting something? Or, perhaps, God forbid, designed something, which went terribly wrong?
ReplyDeleteHaving long considered Honrton Street corrupt beyond hope of redemption; one still cannot believe RBKC deliberately started this terrible fire. Just as Grenfell Tower has burned to the ground, so has the Town Hall. Every one of the Tory councillors is a dead (almost entirely) white man walking. They're finished politically, socially and most likely financially! The long await Revolution has come at last to the Rotten Borough, at a truly terrible cost to the poorest in society.
ReplyDeleteThe TMO is certainly institutionally corrupt. A director ordered two managers to hide money from RBKC auditors.
ReplyDeleteThe police investigation should centre on the TMO.
ReplyDeleteAsk residents associations in TMO properties we could you many a shocking tale and show you documents.
ReplyDeleteYes, and when we complain to outside agencies: our MP, the fire brigade and to many good RBKC officers, we are threatened and intimidated with letters that allude to our tenancies.
ReplyDeleteOur resident associations are disengaged and made powerless to represent the most vulnerable.
ReplyDeleteThe abuse of power !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe TMO is to blame for all of this.
ReplyDeleteThe TMO is clearly ghastly and must be thoroughly investigated by the police, but RBKC is the landlord.
ReplyDeleteAll this glorious gossip!
ReplyDeleteThe comments associated with this piece can give us all hope that a nice long enquiry will make everything better.

The desire in the country, as in the borough, is to get rid of social tenants to anywhere by any means necessary - and I do mean any - and RBKC knows it. The national hoo haa will die down, Grenfell will be forgotten, back to business as usual.
NEXT!
You speak the truth, let me escort you to the front door sir.

Holgate resigned --- is he going to be followed by others?
ReplyDeleteJust in case there are others and they read this blog, here is a very useful link: on how to apply for a Job seeker's Allowance.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.gov.uk/jobseekers-allowance/how-to-claim
good luck with the application, as there are not many local authorities who will welcome you with open arms.... And, then, are you actually qualified to work anywhere else, but Councils?
Re: Holgate's resignation. The DCLG must insist that he does not avail himself of the various 'termination', 'retirement' benefits and his alleged vast pension pot. We all know that Meyers ended up with a pot worth £ 3 million - yes, MILLION....
ReplyDeleteThe TMO have knowingly ignored concerns by the fire brigade on a K & C Estate for six years.
ReplyDeleteThe elderly, the disabled and families with children were placed at risk.
ReplyDeleteThose fighting for their community were addressed with intimidation in writing by Theresa Brown, Housing Director of the TMO and RObert Black TMO CHief Executive.
ReplyDeleteThe TMO should be disbanded.
ReplyDeleteYes, the CEO and directors prosecuted for criminal negligence !!
ReplyDeleteThe TMO Directors and CEO ignored the legal notice served by the fire brigade for six years.
