The Farmers Market is an ideal candidate to be protected as an Asset of Community Value (ACV)
When Capco won their application to knock down Earls Court Alison Flight, a senior RBKC planner, could not disguise her delight.
The Dame, being an old prude, was shocked to see 'Flighty' throwing herself at the DP9 team like an excited schoolgirl.
It was not an edifying sight! LINK
It seems that 'Flighty' will be working together with the same DP9 as they try to demolish the much-loved Sydney Street Farmers Market and build masses of super high priced flats for dodgy people from the 'Stans' and other corrupt states.
One begins to wonder whether the Planning Dept works for residents or offshore developers!
'Flighty' and her boss, Mr. Stallwood, have directed the committee to grant consent for this vandalism.
What will the Committee do?
What we all need to do is click on the LINK and OBJECT
Deliberately, the Planning Dept miss-dated the letter announcing the meeting.
Cleverly, DP9 have managed to organise things so the decision to demolish will be taken on June 1st when thousands of Chelsea residents will be away.
Cleverer still was organising the meeting at such short notice knowing objectors would not be able to get their act together.

DeleteUnwanted schemes are everything to do with a boroughs MP they should be representing residents wishes both prior to Parliament being dissolved , during the election campaign and when re-elected (as we know Victoria will be whether we like it or not ) the same goes for Greg Hands. This matter affects both of their constituents

DeleteHow vulgar! Tesco & Waitrose? We go to Daylesford, the modern day farmers market. No reason for the Chelsea market to be squashed, very popular with residents, locals and even tourists.

Shop in Waitrose and Tesco et al for produce flown in from Latin America and God knows from where else - full of protective chemical.... and pay through your nose... We prefer ENGLISH produce, because us Badgers is English....
DeleteSadly, only RBKC planning could come up with such a blatant way of trying to bury "bad news". This massive 50 page recommendation must have been ages in preparation, but they couldn't resist expediting when all media attention is on the horrors in Manchester.

ReplyDeleteGiven Ms Flights history and ongoing involvement with Capco and DP9 and her blatantly telling Planning Councillors they should ignore residents complaints re night time work at Earls Court, so that and her whole dubious involvement with Capco etc it is about time her files and emails were looked into (business and personal) and her bank accounts.

ReplyDeleteDepressing as it is that this long established, popular and iconic feature of Chelsea will be swept away to make way for more massive outpourings of concrete, this is not news.
ReplyDeleteIt is part of the long-running plan to redevelop and expand the Royal Brompton Hospital which has been the subject of proposals and public consultations for what seems like several years. I think the chances of stopping it now are zilch.
As for Asset of Community Value, this is pie in the sky. Just up the road from the Farmers Market is Le Colombier restaurant which a particularly nasty landlord is trying to close down in the belief that there is still some life in the London residential property market. To widespread acclaim, our fearless council provisionally declared the Colombier to be an asset of community value a few months ago. They have now withdrawn this provisional declaration on the grounds that the landlord might claim a hideous amount of compensation which the council doesn't want to pay and doesn't have the guts to challenge.
At least if the monstrosity to go up on the site of the Farmers Market is built at the same time as the recently approved monstrosity going up on the Thamesbrook site next door, then the dirt, noise, traffic chaos and general agony for local residents will all be concentrated to happen at the same time.
And when that's over, we can look forward to Crossrail 2, perhaps?

Look they are building flats with a 'Faux Medical Centre where Thamesbrook used to be. The non - British who buy or rent them when their older family members get sick and jump the queue at our NHS Hospitals , will need to visit some vastly overpriced restaurants and shops while mummy or daddy gets a heart op on the cheap ( Not US Medical Prices Obvs ).The developments in Chelsea are not for the benefit of the local Council Tax Payers and do nothing to enhance the local area .

Will Lady B have conveniently lost her voice again - as she did last time round - so that her friends Cllr Freeman and Feilding-Mellen can answer the difficult questions on her behalf?

DeleteDent-Coad's pamphlet came in today. Wasn't expecting much it was quite impressive putting residents and local businesses first. It was quite detailed too which was a surprise.
I also received Dent-Coad's pamphlet in the post. And I'm not even in her constituency.
DeleteThe same post also brought a flier from a Lib-Dem called Annabel and an indie who seems to want to split the anti-Brexit vote. How nice of them all to take such an interest in Chelsea and Fulham residents, but you'd thing they have better things to do with their money.

ReplyDeleteMaybe this is the sort of issue the candidates need to get behind, it doesn't matter if it is in Kensington or Chelsea as it is one borough.
ReplyDeleteJust look at how Hands and Borwick sat on their hands when Marlborough school was demolished, the roads peppered by pot holes down to HGVs for basement excavations and developers pet profit projects. Beggars belief!
Borwick's policy's on the back of a fag packet which came through the door;
1. Supporting Local Businesses
2. Protecting European Citizens
3. More Local School Places
Speaking to my local newsagent about Borwick "Supporting Local Businesses" he laughed, he told me how he is barely coping that small businesses are barely making a profit or covering their losses. Due to high property prices, locals being forced out of the area; properties being left empty; leaving local businesses without customers. During the summer months shops are left struggling in a ghost town.
There has been very little help from the council or our MP for small local businesses which as each one has gone out of business has been replaced by an estate agent, which offer nothing to the community except!
Borwick claims "Local businesses and independent shops are the lifeblood of our streets. I will continue to CAMPAIGN for less regulation and lower business rates." but that's it, just campaign, no real solutions. In 2 years what has she done for local businesses since then? Cllr Freeman in another thread said local issues do not concern her as she is in Parliament [paraphrased! Sorry Cllr F]. Every local issue big or small should concern Borwick so long it is in Kensington & Chelsea.
The only reason Lady Borwick is concerning herself with European Citizens is to try and stem the flow of votes going to Labour and Lib Dems over Brexit. That's the only reason to vote for Borwick is to reward Conservatives for having the referendum. Should British nationals and those from the commonwealth concerns come before European citizens staying in London to avoid tax, use our schools and NHS.
Regarding school places; aren't we losing North Kensington library to a public school.
Prime Minister May has put Borwick in a tight corner, as this election is a little like a by-election. It is a sad day when you can't bring yourself to put a cross next to a conservative candidate in the voting booth for Kensington.
I bet we can't wait for the return of all the criminals and ne'er-do-wells currently living on the Costa del Crime. They will immediately become a burden on the NHS and contribute nothing to the economy. We shall just have to hope that they are all arrested and banged up on return - but that will also cost the tax payer.

Why should you assume that British black men are only suited to take the very lowly, very poorly paid jobs currently done by white eastern European migrants? Don't they deserve - and indeed achieve - better than that? Check out your own internal racist before making silly comments like this.
