Also in the Sun and the Mail.

This is the most brazen "try on" for ages.

  2. "Freebie" Cambridge family want more space when they are in London so the whole park, and the lives of local residents, need to be disrupted.

Time to put paid to this lot

  4. well done local residents and the media for bringing this ghastly idea into the open. It is not only a 'local' concern, it is also of 'national' interest. Why on Earth does the Cambridge family need such great amount of space. A much better solution is to get rid of few of the decrepit free-loaders who are accommodated in the Palace for almost free.

  5. This is the nudge and wink establishment network at play. Palace toffs taking a chance with gullible planning officers.

This William guy needs his pants pulling down. Given up work to spend time with the kids. Who does he think he is?

    Freeloading on the tax payer.

    1. "Charity and donors paid for the basement".

The donors are being ripped off. Do they know they are paying to create space for Royal servants in the Palace? Of course not.

And we tax payers will have to pay for the extra headcount. EDC is absolutely correct that "the Firm" needs to be closed down.

  6. The new Royals in Kensington Palace seem to be setting a new and costly tone. First there was the new cast iron entrance to the Palace (Garden Furniture according to architect supremo Cllr Moylan). Then there is the profit making food festival (24/7) in Perks Field next month, courtesy of new family member Tom Parkit Bowles. Then the huge new planting of fir trees on Palace Green to give the shy family some privacy (nuts: if we pay for them then we should be able to see them!!). Now the basement excavation so that staff can be moved out of the Palace to create more room for goodness knows what.

And the youngsters have given up work "to spend more time with the family". And some very risky B Movie actresses are in attendance and sleeping over - not even Princess Margaret sunk to such depths. And of course "doors to manual" is in mother in law overdrive.

What has the Royal Borough come to?

No comment from the Kensington Society about this proposed travesty. I wonder why? Could it be that the Head of the Society is a freeloader at the Palace?

    We should be told.

  8. I believe the application claimed that extra space is needed as storage and restoration facilities for spare royal costumes etc, for KP's various exhibitions of gowns. This raises the question why the Palace can't rent secure storage to store extra clothing, like the rest of us.

    1. Well that is odd since storage for historical items have never been a problem before.

  9. Before coming here for the 2nd time, I wondered 'who the Hell is paying for all this?' You have answered it - us the stupid taxpayers. Who is getting Brownie points? Piggy et al....
as for storage: what is wrong with a secure facility in Kent?

  10. And isn't it strange that the Science Museum, Royal Albert Hall and the Friends of Hyde Park believe that they are entitled to write letters of support? Isn't the consultation period meant to be for residents to give their opinions? Do these institutions want to get into the good books of the Planning department by any chance?

  12. Perhaps the Dame will be kind enough to send one of her many underemployed heralds to Ken Soc Castle to demand an explanation of what exactly they think they're playing at.

Kensington Society is in a fix. The Dame has put the spotlight on them.

Instead of sticking to the knitting and taking a position on the rules (No More Basements) the Society is trying to square a hole. Wanting to curry favour with the Royals (Board Members love popping over to the Palace for tea with their Chairman in his grace and favour residence). But the Dame has also reminded them that they represent their members who pay annual subscriptions. And Society members do not like it when their Committee becomes self serving.......

  14. Beware "private meetings with Royal Palaces". The Society has become transfixed with the idea of "moving and shaking". Trying to be a power broker in order to rub shoulders with the rich and powerful.

They went down this road with the developers of Newcombe Tower and ended up speaking against their own members at a public Planning Appeal in the Town Hall earlier this year.

The Kensington Society has become corrupted.

  15. Its is not only the Society that is corrupted. The Planning Department is so cavalier with its "stuff the resident" consultation process that the website states that "consultation ends on 28th April" but another part of the website states "decision to be taken on 27th April"

What is the point of having a consultation if the decision is taken before the consultation ends?

    Speaks volumes........

    2. those present at the planning Committee's decision regarding the new North Kensington Library know that decisions are taken ahead of meetings. A very abusive and unjust way to treat residents.
