DON'T LET NOTTING HILL MARKET GO TO THE WALL

BARREN SPACE
There is nothing more depressing that the bare and windswept concourse surrounding Spence's over the top Town Hall.
Some years ago, it was enlivened by the addition of a French market.

Now is a chance to continue the tradition by hosting the ever popular Notting Hill   Farmers Market.

The Market is being forced to move during the demolition of Newcombe House.

Unless it finds a temporary local venue an attraction, much loved by residents, will close.
This is the moment when Council might consider offering a short-term home to a much-loved focal point for residents.
It's also a chance to generate revenue from what is currently dead and uninteresting space and bring residents close to a building costing them millions a year to run.
A greater effort needs to be made to share Town Hall facilities with those who pay for its upkeep.

Piggy will never allow his talking shop to go "down market". What a silly suggestion.

    1. Health and Safety would never allow it. And it would inhibit the approach road for the Bentley

  2. There will be crowds of people, including traders, vans and mess. Not appropriate for the spaceship Council HQ

As usual the Dame shows her deep understanding and concern for residents. The publicly funded Town Hall in Hornton Street, not a million miles from Hillgate Village and the site of the hugely successful Farmers Market which operates on Saturdays,is a brilliant spot to relocate the market while demolition is underway in Notting Hill Gate. Loads of unused space around the Bentley parking area and good brick foundations for the stalls.

    Long live the Dame!

  5. What a wonderful idea. Should be welcomed by the PR team. Just think Nick and others could meet the shoppers and answer any ad-hoc questions.

    1. Nick could just move around and listen. This is the art of listening. Stage managed events provide 99% useless feedback. Just adds to delusion of out of touch Leaders.

  6. There have been markets there before - no problem.

  7. Actually, I remember seeing something I think from the council about our opinions in the preferred relocation for the market , either The phillimores (wasn't sure where this actually referred to) or the town Hall. Also at the Kensington High Street peacemaking meeting everyone said they would like to see the town Hall plaza have more activity and be used more, rather than being a deadspace.
