Now the much loved Marlborough Primary school is set to be sacked by the vulgarian vandals who so hate our heritage.
When Sutton Dwellings is razed to the ground the heart of Chelsea will finally have been ripped out.
Julian Lloyd Webber said: "This is dreadful news. It will be a crying shame if this beautiful and historic building is demolished because the listing came too late. Once it's gone it's gone. It is a truly desperate situation and indeed a murky one as far as I'm concerned. When you have a company as big as John Lewis involved who already have a phenomenal amount of power in that area, my suspicions are raised. It shouldn't be about big business which prices everybody but the Russian Oligarchs out of South Kensington.

DeleteMr Stallwood is not a bad person. He is a creature of the culture and controls in Hornton Street. If the culture does not change he will continue to operate in the bad old ways. Cllr Paget-Brown and Cllr Coleridge need to set a new tone and instigate new values.

ReplyDeleteKensington and Chelsea is supposed to be a Conservation Area. Councillors need to be forcefully reminded of this. Paget-Brown needs a sharp blow to the head to wake him up.
ReplyDeleteThe whole of Nottinghill Gate is about to be redeveloped. The area around the Underground has been bought up by three property developers who are currently huddled with Officers in the pre application process in which Councillors and the Kensington Society are frozen out. You could not make it up. Officers will propose a "done deal" to the Planning Committee.
DeleteThe area is a unique concentration of 1970's architecture. Officers have told Councillors that it "is ugly". Developers have allowed the buildings to become run down as part of their persuasion technique - that well know pincer movement to prepare for another dose of BUY TO LEAVE in the heart of Kensington. For the benefit of Chinese and Arabs with hot money to burn.

DeleteLast year planning permission was given to a bunch of Malaysian developers to knock down 19 year old Lancer Square in the heart of Kensington Church Street. Furious opposition from residents and the Kensington Society. Brushed aside by the stooge Chairman of the Planning Committee, Cllr Warrick.
Having obtained permission to double floor space with luxury "buy to leave flats" the Malaysians have decided to "flip" the investment and make a £70 million profit on their investment of £300 million that they carried for 18 months. This is speculation Hornton Street style, courtesy of the Conservative Cabinet.

ReplyDeleteThe issue is as ever, that Hornton Street is actively colluding with carpet baggers to steal an essential public asset for private financial benefit. The school is a beautiful, protected building, but there's money to be made from its corpse. Once the school is demolished, where do the developers propose to educate local children? Or is that a stupid question?
ReplyDeleteIn most boroughs the local council acts to protect such a valuable public asset, but this is the most rotten of rotten boroughs! Those with the deepest pockets need do more more than take their business to Mr Bore. Mr Stallwood is then perfectly placed to oblige his former boss. The perfect business arrangement.

ReplyDeleteRumour has it Bore might come in the employ of Capitals and Counties developers of Leicester Square & Earls Court fame. Only a rumour though. RBKC were asked if Mr Bore was leaving RBKC for CapCo and received reply "this is simply not true".

This is a return to the bad old days. Disgraced former councillor O'Neil will probably creep out from under his stone. Then the council will again hand over shedloads of residents' funds to O'Neil's so-called charities. The ghost of Pooter still haunts this rotten borough.
