Funny, I saw Councillor Borwick at an important social housing debate in North Kensington a little while ago. I was particularly struck by her attendance and concern for the issues at this meeting and the fact that no one from the pathetic RBKC Labour Group even bothered to show up.
Sorry, I forgot- the disgraced ex- Labour Councillor Dez O'Neill was present. Anyway, never found out why he had the Whip withdrawn and was thrown out of the Labour Group. Less said about him the better hey........
Yes, K and C has the perfect candidate in Victoria Borwick and only an act of inside stupidity or outside interference should stand in her way. Go Victoria!
Councillor Borwick is well know locally. She is not some celebrity or also ran being forced on Kensington residents by Conservative Central Office. This has been the pattern of the past. With disastrous results. On Thursday we will have a new Conservative Association and hopefully the new Executive will make a break with the past and be their own men and women. Pursuing the interests of local residents and nothing else.
Excellent to see a strong local candidate diving in and saying "I want to serve. Judge me on my record". Anyone asking for good local references about this long serving Councillor will be killed in the rush
It took her two seconds to highlight the Mansion Tax as a major concern for her residents and she got this in headlines. After ten years of representing Kensington the last MP failed to say anything about this matter that was noticed and his only action was to support an Early Day motion by a Labour MP against the Mansion Tax.
There could be a new style of representation in Kensington just around the corner.
Whatever way you look at it Victoria Borwick is the strongest candidate. Not least, because she is hard working and has already gained the respect of residents throughout the Borough. A breath of fresh air after years of putting up with the workshy Rifkind.
If I wanted someone to open the batting at Lord's I would chose Andrew Strauss. If I wanted someone to row at Henley I would chose James Cracknell. If I wanted someone to go adventuring and presenting on tv I would chose Dan Snow. But I dont- I want an proper, competent MP. I want someone who knows K and C and cares about it's residents. That person is not a cricketer or a rower or a tv presenter but our very own Victoria Borwick and she should not be denied.
The word needs to go out, in very clear terms, that Kensington is not interested in outsiders as our MP. And the word also needs to go out that Kensington is not interested in carpet baggers who also happen to live in the Borough. We have a wealth of tried and tested politicians who have demonstrated that they know how to care for residents and know how to get results. And know how to earn respect. This is where we should be looking for our next Member of Parliament
For me there is a list of "one" because I have made my mind up after years of being involved in Kensington politics. But if you read the press you will see half a dozen worthy names that are neither outsiders or carpetbaggers. Quite easy to spot those names alongside the long list of celebrities and self seekers who are mentioned
I would love you to identify half a dozen "worthy" names (outside of Victoria Borwick) from Kensington politics who have either the gravitas or experience to be considered MP material?

We need Victoria Borwick. She engages with real people and their genuine concerns.
ReplyDeleteRubbish, she lives in a £40M mansion, and knows nothing about poverty in North Kensington

DeleteI have never heard of her and I live in Abingdon
DeleteYes she should go
DeleteBarry, if you spent less time looking at your images of young boys you might have....dirty old man.
DeleteWhy haven't we heard from the peoples champion Sir Merrick Cockell yet?
ReplyDeletePooter is toast. The Dame made sure of that :)
DeleteDinner in New York anyone?
I can't remember who I took out to dinner but it doesn't matter the council will pick up the tab because I am Sir Pooter
DeleteIf Pooter dares to show his head there will be a huge avalanche of revelations in the Hornet about expense abuse. Be warned, Mate
DeleteGo Victoria - the stongest candidate and local to boot -
ReplyDeleteGo, in the name of God Go

Look a flying pig
DeleteTotally Brilliant....we now need a new leader who does more listen.

DeleteFortunately, the Dame and a dinner for two in New York have done for him.
