LIGHTFOOT GOES FROG HUNTING IN HOLLAND PARK!

A couple of years back Warwick Lightfoot wrote a book(now remaindered) entitled "Sorry, we have no money left" so, with delicious irony, we read the author has forced K&C taxpayers to pay for something called Celebration of Science.
Now you might ask why impoverished taxpayers, constantly told basic services need cutting, are expected to pay for this silly chap's ego trip.
REMAINDERED
Lightfoot's tome tells us there is no money left, yet spends tens of thousands of pounds of OUR money on something of marginal interest.
None of us take economists very seriously: this extravagance explains why.

One of Warrick's exciting adventures is 'pool dipping' in Holland Park. It involves looking for frogs!
You can read about it HERE

As that young boy admiring old rogue, ex cllr Phelps, would say....'You could not make it up'

When residents are over taxed to the extent that has become common in Kensington and Chelsea (£300 million cash reserves which is nearly 3 years worth of Council Tax) then it is inevitable that idle hands will raid the piggy bank to do "pool dipping" and "frog spotting". Cllr Lightfoot always had exotic interests, even for a poor boy from a Comprehensive School. But he should remember that as Cabinet Member for Finance he has a responsibility not to waste tax payers money. What a pity the rogue continues to fail to find an MEP seat so that the Royal Borough can get shot of him. Maybe he could find a spot with UKIP - but far from London

  2. It is absolutely scandalous that this profligate spending continues under the Paget-Brown regime. Council tax was never intended for this kind of niche activity pandering to the whims of bored Councillors with too much money to spend and too little to do.

  4. Why is Local Government so full if fringe types?

  5. Lightweight is an ego trip on legs. Residents daring to express views contradicting the official Hornton Street line risk a screaming, personalised rant from the cabinet member for finance. Ghastly man.

  6. Once again we see evidence of what a trashy group of out of control spenders we have in the Tory Cabinet. Shame on you Paget-Brown. £1 million a year Council Tax splurged on Holland Park Opera. £30 million to import pink granite from China to tart up Exhibition Road. UFO's for Ladbroke Grove. Frog hunts in Holland Park. Overtaxing to the tune of £300 million to pay for future fripperies. And massive cuts in Social Care and spending on the elderly and vulnerable. Cheese pairing on transport services for disadvantaged children.

The Tory trash should hang their collective heads in shame

    1. Its a big task to sweep out the trash. After the likes of Lightweight are swatted there is even worse to follow. Palmer, Warwick, (E) Campbell, Mackover. What a load of rubbish

  7. Tory Trash is the perfect epithet. The only thing this lot is good at is misspending other people's money. Basic services are cut, but there's always enough cash left to toss down the nearest lavatory. Not a public lavatory of course; they were all shut down to pay for the appalling Moylan's Chinese granite!

  8. This programme has not been well-advertised at all. The extensive and expensively produced flyer shows that there are some interesting talks on offer. Noone knows about it. Why? Why are the Science Museum and Imperial College not taking part? What about other Exhibition Road cultural institutions? This seems like another vanity project.

  9. 30% of children in this Borough live in poverty, this council lets this kind of ego project through without question and ignore vulnerable children? A total disgrace.
