A parent with a severely disabled child said this about her..."she was a very decent human being and her death is a tragedy".
She was one of a small group of councillors with a reputation for really wanting to make a difference to the lives of those she represented.
She also had an excellent sense of humour and once or twice the Dame was in receipt of tart, but well deserved corrections.
This council can ill afford the loss of councillors of Fiona's calibre and quality and she will remembered by all with great affection.
The Dame sends her heartfelt condolences to Fiona's family.
A sentiment shared by all who knew this very kind and capable lady.

Sad and shocked to hear this. Her politics weren't my cup of tea but her commitment to residents and her work were.
ReplyDeleteIt is with great sadness that we hear of the loss of Councillor Fiona Buxton. She worked closely with Full of Life families to shape services for young people with complex needs. Her legacy has ensured that our young people access high quality local services that families trust and are seen as examples of good practice. Fiona was funny, kind, considerate and cared about people. Her expertise and huge courage will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family at this very sad time.

Thanks Dame for the tribute to Fiona - you echo many of our sentiments, Certainly she will be a tough act to follow, as all of us enjoyed working with her. Fiona was dedicated, hard working, and could sort the wheat from the chaff very easily!
