This statement from KRESPA confirms her soothsaying....
Ludo, with his ear to the ground, tells her that there is growing unease amongst Conservative councillors over the rise in dissident resident groupings. These things tend to snowball....
Incidentally, Ludo tells his aunt, the Dame, that the Council's IT Dept have lifted the block on the Hornets Nest.
It was a silly, unworkable, idea in the first place...

"KRESPA - the Kensington Resident's Party and the Chelsea Independents are united in feeling let down by this Conservative Council. Speaking on behalf of KRESPA I am happy to make the following update:
The Scrutiny Committee and the subsequent Cabinet meeting last week confirmed our view that the Council refuse to listen the views of their electorate. Big business continues to be put ahead of the community.
- Money ahead of safety,
- Money ahead of traffic,
- Money ahead of their residents
We intend to change this!
For the first time, ever, we will offer voters in safe Conservative wards a winnable choice.
As a new Independent Party (with cross party support in Kensington and working with the Chelsea Independents) we are going to represent every person, including those who haven't bothered to vote in the past.
With your support we intend make a difference.
I am happy to confirm that we are drawing up our list of candidates and one way or another every councillor either side of Holland Park Avenue will be impacted.
RC
KRESPA - Representing every resident!"
This bodes very badly for certain Conservative cllrs. The problem for the Conservative group is that they had never experienced rebelliousness from their very natural constituency.
ReplyDeleteOnce other residents realise that you can be a Conservative nationally and an Independent locally the dam will burst....
A wake up call for the Tories. There is something in K&C called residents. Remember what they are?
DeleteAt last there are signs that there will be a meaningful opposition in Kensington and Chelsea which will give democracy a chance to function. Councillors who will remember that their job is to listen to residents and represent them and not to be in the pockets of developers
ReplyDeleteTraditionally there has been a 31% turnout in K&C elections and 70% of these vote for the Tories (on autopilot). A staggering 69% are so alienated and disillusioned that they cannot be bothered to vote. Sixty years of Conservative monopoly should be deeply ashamed of this result. But now there is hope
ReplyDeleteElection turnouts in the borough are so low as to be a disgrace. The levels of voter registration in some wards are so low as to be a disgrace. Any other borough would be ashamed by both, but not RBK&C.
DeleteI have voted Conservative since I was able to vote, and for the first time in over 40 years they have given me no choice but to vote against them and vote for an Independent candidate.
DeleteThen tell us your name
Deletetell us yours -
DeleteThere's Councillor Warwick. Apparently he has neither an email address nor telephone number. Doubtless to keep the plebs at a proper distance.
ReplyDeleteAt long last RBKC's natural Tory voters will have a proper outlet for their anger. Good luck to KRESPA. This will shake the Town Hall to its rotten foundations.
Cllr Warwick is one of those minor public school products who loves to strut his stuff on the "look at me I am important" platform. Like the WAKIKI bird his ever decreasing circles have brought him perilously close to flying up his own back side
DeleteCllr Warwick has told friends that he is not in the least concerned about "a few miserable residents who blast at him in the Hornet". He conveniently forgets that some "miserable" Tory Councillors have also made their views clear about what a democratic joke he and his Planning Committee are
DeleteCllr Mills has been particularly strident and outspoken about Cllr Warwick
DeleteNovice Hammersmith and Fulham staff are now telling RBKC officers what to do and how to do it –even though the RBKC staff know what to do from years of experience and excellent work. This is quite wrong and must be stopped. Time to unpick the terrible damage that Tri-borough is visiting on RBKC.
ReplyDeletelook at sections like Environmental Health where only one senior manager exists from RBKC and the rest are flunkies of Nigel Palace who has no loyalty or feeling for RBKC as he waters down services at the expense of RBKC residents, let's hope the elections will allow him to be taken out of responsibilities for our hitherto wonderful Borough and excellent staff
DeleteTrue. H & F now runs the entire K & C show, despite knowing nothing of K & C and caring even less. It's also deeply undemocratic. Foisted on K & C residents without even a nominal consultation. It very definitely must be unpicked before the damage becomes irreparable. Roll on the local elections.
ReplyDeleteTri Borough is more like bi Borough. Westminster never fell for the Pooter Cockle poison. They kept their own Chief Executive and major functions - but joined in to put the tri Borough dustbin collection out to collective tender.
ReplyDeleteH&F is a marginal and could swing to Labour. Very easily. In fact polling suggests that this will be the case. Interesting times for Pooters tri Borough nonsense
Deletethe problem is that the lies spread by the management from H&F are being believed as I haven't seen any RBKC staff at committee where there is an H&F overlord because quite simply our excellent staff are being choked by the takeover
DeleteKRESPA needs to build its campaign around a few celebrities - otherwise it is dead in the water. They should look closely at the Sloane Square list of celebrities who put paid to the mad ideas from Cllr Moylan to ruin that part of London.
ReplyDeleteTime for Voters to drink at the well of Democracy - they will slake their thirst and rid us of these buffoons
ReplyDeleteRegarding the comment by Anon 13.10, for 20 years the tendering processes for waste management contracts have been illegal. Tri-borough residents and those elsewhere in central London have been charged twice the national rate for waste management.
ReplyDeleteRBKC recently went to great lengths to hide the truth. It dished out £728,000 of residents' funds in the process. Despite protests, no further action was taken to protect the public. The Rotten Borough's 5 star status invariably takes precedence over mere legality. More information on this serious, if unglamorous, matter should be available from our current Leader; but isn't.
If the waste contracts are out to tender again, we will doubtless be treated to yet another round of corruption. The sums of money involved are enormous. Perhaps this is of no matter for most denizens of Chelsea, but is an outrage for those of North
Kensington.
Whilst there are indeed a number of poor quality Conservative Councillors who do not deserve re-election, KRESPA should really be calling themselves the NIMBY party and do not, in reality, stand much chance of winning anything at any election, despite the Dame's unquestioning support.
ReplyDeleteYou wish! Silly, silly 14.59, KRESPA have genuine support from YOUR voters. And this is your fault.
DeleteTo admit that there are a number of poor quality Conservative councillors and then accuse KRESPA which is backed by a number of Conservative high flyers seems to make you seem just a bit idiotic.
DeleteAre you just a bit simple?
