The sexuality of candidates is of no interest of voters(or should not be) as long as they do a good job.
So why is it that a couple of years ago Lloyd North was the unacceptable face of the gay porn industry, yet today Milord Carrington is all over him like a cheap suit?
And Milord is wrong to adopt such a insouciant attitude towards background checking.
Had they been a little more thorough young boy obsessed Barry Phelps would have been bought to heel ages ago.
And the same goes for convicted child porn possessor, Andrew Lamont.
Every putative councillor should be deep checked after the scandals of the past....
You couldn't make it up!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a load of PR guff from here.
ReplyDeleteIf they were truly non-plussed by his "history" they'd put him up in one of their "safe" wards. They're not. They're putting him up in Colville. He has about as much chance of winning a seat as the RAF porcine squadron have of flying past.
It's just another Conservative party detox exercise. Nothing more. These things come round with any elections.
DeleteProper background checks are essential. A background check on Lamont would have very likely revealed his other bizarre interests - such as the "interesting" anatomical art exhibitions - and he might then have been deemed unsuitable to stand as a Conservative Party candidate. It would have saved everyone - Council, party - a load of hassle, time and money.
ReplyDeleteAnatomical? Please tell us more.
DeleteLadies' pudenda - elegantly displayed in photographs from all angles.
DeleteNot actually reviewing the films seems rather lax. The odds of Lloyd being elected are slim, but were he to be elected the chances of all of this coming back to haunt the local party seem less than negligible. Surely one of our elected Tory Councillors could take one for the team and sit down in front of the telly popcorn in hand?
ReplyDeleteAs long as it's just popcorn in hand.
DeleteThis unpleasant task is one for Cllr Moylan
ReplyDeleteHas anyone alerted the Mail to the events of the spring of 2011? The Tories didn't seem all that tolerant then ...
ReplyDeleteEveryone is famous for 15 minutes
ReplyDeleteNot feature length? Someone's fallen short. How disappointing.
DeleteIt is all hanging out. Lloyd North now a celeb. He needs to flaunt it and turn the whole notoriety to his advantage. The more publicity the better. And gets the Tories out of their dreadful fuddy duddy image. Maybe he could just take the seat. If not the Micky
ReplyDeleteA MICRO celeb
DeleteHave you seen the films then?
DeletePerhaps he's underwhelmed?
DeleteI will not be renewing my Party Membership
ReplyDeleteEach polling day teams of nervous K & C Tories are sent to try to drum up True Blue votes on the mean streets of North Kensington.
ReplyDeleteThese alien creatures dutifully follow instruction to dress down; the better to blend in with the local peasantry. From the recesses of well stocked wardrobes come elderly, but carefully ironed jeans and long forgotten, flower printed M & S skirts. The poor souls spend several fruitless hours banging on closed doors while studiously ignoring the cat calls of barefoot local urchins. Duty done, they withdraw to Pembridge.
Pembridge is a dump.
DeleteOh those poor Tories. Brings a tear to the eye ... (probably grit).
DeleteThis is the chance for Lloyd. A breath of fresh air in N Kensington. If he can strut his stuff in the buff on film then what could possibly hold him back in N Kensington? The locals will love him
DeleteMembership of the Tory party should do it.
DeleteAnonymous 20.59 suggests an unusual variant of the old story of "The Emperor's New Clothes."
ReplyDeleteThis is dangerous stuff indeed. As it is, in the North of the Rotten Borough, the Council already has barely sufficient tattered rags of reputation to cover its collective shame. This latest image is almost too ghastly to contemplate. Almost.
It could be worse. Cllr Palmer could be standing again up north.
DeleteLuckily he's decided to gift himself to those further south where his genius will be truly appreciated.
DeleteWonder if Councillor Blakeman, the Leader of RBKC Labour Party, has ever reciprocated the meal she received from Cllr Ahern for her part in originally helping run Lloyd North out of town in the Brompton Ward election in 2011?
ReplyDeleteWhat a very cosy little Club Hornton St must be for our privileged Labour and Tory Councillors.

Long live stripper Lloyd. May his bird in hand give him Tory energy
ReplyDeleteWhat?
DeleteThat's not a bird you're looking at there.
DeleteAre you sure? Bit small to be anything else.
DeleteStrength to the TORY ELBOW
DeleteWrist not elbow. We're not playing tennis here. The swings aren't as large and the balls bounce less.
DeleteSpeak for yourself.
DeleteK&C has its very own "Linda Lovelace"- the male version of course, favoured by disgraced ex Cllr Phelps (and others)
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot
Mr North cannot hold a candle to my Linda
DeleteThe Dame should ban racist comments
DeleteWhat?
DeleteNow that North is "outed", she really needs to turbo charge her act.
ReplyDeleteLloyd is a one off. Photos at the back of the Dames mug shot show signed pics of Margaret Thatcher and Quentin Crisp. With credentials like these, how can our candidate possibly fail?
ReplyDeleteGo for it, girl
Mr North has my vote
ReplyDeleteCracking, cracking
DeleteWhy was North abandoned by the Tories in 2011 and is now back in the fold? What is the logic of this?
ReplyDeleteDame, can you explain?
Kensington & Chelsea Tories have a long track record of fielding their "less posh" candidates in the unwinnable northern wards. These usually take the form of right-leaning candidates with the "wrong" social background.
DeleteNorth is apparently standing in Colville which, as far as the Tories are concerned, is completely unwinnable. He's quite simply not going to be elected. He is however a perfect opportunity to gain some street cred and prove just how socially liberal the modern Tory party really is (honest).
Smarter cookies wouldn't be so compliant.
Cracked more like.
ReplyDeleteThe residents of N. Kensington wholeheartedly despise the tories, so this particular debate is largely academic.
ReplyDeleteThe most obvious conclusion is that North believes that if he shows his political credentials now, he'll get a crack at a winnable ward next time round.
Didn't North previously stand in 2010? And in 2006? How much whipping will this horse take?
