25% OF OUR TAXES GO TO FUNDING COUNCIL OFFICERS' PENSIONS

PAYING FOR MYERS

The Dame tires of the useless Pooter ringing his hands and suggesting councils are 'running out of money'.
In K&C it might have something to do with the flagrant waste of our taxes on such follies as Exhibitionist Rd: the £90 million school....which could have been built for £30 million, or the millions frittered away on Opera Holland Park and Chelsea Careless.
And, of course, Pooter loved to live the high life.... with wasteful and extravagant overseas trips and a sparkling new £100,000 Bentley.
So yes, providing a quarter of our taxes to fund the pensions for the likes of the £300,000 a year, ex social worker, Mr Myers, is one part of the problem, but the other is that councillors and officers just haven't the foggiest idea of how to run money.
But, with an failed fag salesman like Pooter Cockell running things what can one expect?

There is very serious institutional drift in K&C. By any stretch of the imagination, spending 25% of tax on pensions for Officers is off the scale. Too many Officers and too high salaries. Benchmarking suggests that 12% is at the top of the range.

This is the kind of abuse that the Dame is brilliant at exposing. Time for action, Cllr Paget-Brown

  2. Staggering. Rich people often do not bother to look at their bills and in North Kensington everyone is on benefit. The Tory set up in Hornton Street has got used to this and they just splurge with our Council tax. Bring on UKIP. Cant wait.

  3. Not everyone in North Kensington is by any means on benefit. An extraordinary mix of people, at all income levels, live together. So unlike the rapidly depopulating non-doms paradise that is South Kensington and Chelsea.

However, point taken about UKIP. The purple cat is about to be let loose among the blue pigeons.
