K&C WINS CHIEF EXEC GREED STAKES! WELL DONE DELBOY MYERS

Celebrate! Our Rotten Borough has reason for civic pride!
Mr Myers, has 'come out' as London's Top Local Government' tycoon...
The Standards' words not the Dame. But they got it wrong... the true cost of Myers is closer....with his pension, bonus and bits and bobs, to £300,000 a year
The good news is that the new guy's salary will be reduced to reflect new market levels.
What the hell are they talking about? There is no 'market' for local government Chief Executives...the greedy buggers get what they can.
Outside local government they would be unemployable...
MYERS....BIG FAT CAT

From The Standard

Britain's highest-paid “town hall tycoon” works in London, earning more than a quarter of a million pounds a year.
Derek Myers is joint chief executive of Hammersmith and Fulham, and Kensington and Chelsea councils with a £266,911 salary in 2011/12. His pay package was highlighted in a report by think-tank The Taxpayers’ Alliance.
Mr Myers announced his retirement last month and the councils have said they will adjust the new joint chief executive’s salary downwards to “reflect new market levels”.

  1. I would like to see a job description for a Town Hall Chief Executive. It would be interesting to see what they actually DO.

  2. No wonder why council tax is so high; an absolute liberty. There are far too many tiers of government in this country and it is stifling the recovery process. In days gone by; public servants were paid significantly less than their counterparts in the private sector but it has got completely out of control. In RBK&C we could get by with maybe around 20 councillors without it making a jot of difference to the way the borough is run. However it takes a brave and upstanding man to do the right thing; I just hope that Nick is that right man. He needs to get the right team around him; people who care and are appointed on merit alone and definately no cronies. No Moylan, no Rock and definately no Quentin!

  4. I see that it doesn't really matter which political party is in power. There are at least four Conservative Councils on that list.
The trough is clearly equally full and available whatever party is running the place.
