ARE THE AL THANI FAMILY HYPOCRITES?

The Emir..Encouraging Late Night Boozing?
Reading the below one could be forgiven for thinking the Al Thani family-owners of Qatar and Harrods, are hypocrites.
Arbitrarily, they stop alcohol being sold on their own territory yet are happy to encourage extreme late night drinking in their Knightsbridge store-much against the wishes of residents.
It would seem the Al Thani family hold us residents in total contempt.
They would never allow foreigners to operate in this way in Qatar, yet feel it quite acceptable to treat residents with a lack of respect bordering on the insulting.....

"Laws governing alcohol and other dietary issues In December 2011, however, restaurants on the Pearl were told to stop selling alcohol.[33][36] No explanation was given for the ban.[33][34] Speculation about the reason includes the government's desire to project a more pious image in advance of the country’s first election of a royal advisory body and rumors of a financial dispute between the government and the resort’s developers"

  2. Maybe British management considered nothing beyond the bottom line before demanding boozing all hours at residents' expense.

The Council should consult the appropriate Islamic religious authorities. This will create an opportunity for looking beyond profit regardless of noise, fighting, vomit & urine. Discreet discussions that include the Embassy, may well stop this madness before it begins.

The religious aspects are delicate. Since RBKC is oblivious to everything except Bentleys, it is necessary to point them out. "Appropriate" authorities refers to historical internal divisions within mainstream Islam. Just as one would not ask the C of E for an opinion on Catholic law, the correct Islamic authority must be approached. There's always Wikipedia.
