Moylan's Airport damned as being in the ' very worst spot' for air safety

Architect's view of Thames Hub
Danny Boy's Folly
The Dame was not astonished that Nats chief Richard Deakin claimed architects had not contacted the air traffic control service about feasibility of the Boris Airport.
Obviously Mr Deakin did not realise that the power behind this multi billion project is none other than the Great Architect himself, Cllr Danny Boy Moylan. Cllr Moylan takes no advice from anyone, so why should he listen to some unknown who is meant to be keeping our airspace safe?
How dare Deakin thinks he knows more about air traffic control than our local brainbox....

According to Deakin, Danny Boy's proposed airport in the Thames estuary would be in the "very worst spot" for the south-east's crowded airspace. Deakin said the proposed site for the new airport, on the Isle of Grain, was directly under the convergence of major arrival and departure flight paths for four of London's five airports.
Pointing to the Thames estuary on a map, he said: "The very worst spot you could put an airport is just about here."
He said there were "serious challenges" to integrate an airport into that traffic pattern, and added: "We're a little surprised that none of the architects thought it worthwhile to have a little chat" with the air traffic controllers.

  1. Dear Dame, haven't you heard about shared space?

The pilots will learn to negotiate their trajectory to avoid other planes, birds etc. It's called 'automatic mitigation'.

    It's really really scientifical.

    Works for me.

  3. I believe Cllr Moylan should have spoken to the Dutch as well as it conflicts with their sky and so is a non runner ~ I think he should concentrate on getting a new runway at Heathrow or still better stick to improving RBKC waste recycling ~ or something useful like not imposing a Moylanstrosity of a tube station on his constituents ~

  4. So this clown is behind this too ~ what will RBKC residents think of their Cllr forcing them to go for hours across London to get a plane ~

  5. This has to be some sort of insane joke. He now has power to 'pave' the skies? Surely not!

Dr. Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?

Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.

Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley!

  6. LONDON THAMES GLOBAL airport....located on the 2000 acre plus potential to expand "brownfield" London Gateway container port site currently being developed byv DPWorld in Thurrock, Essex....the South-Westerly inbound-outbound parallel runways do not pose this problem....perhaps Cllr Moylan has done his homework after all...endorsed by many industry experts....delivered in under 10 years....extensive environmental mitigation already completed...linked via new lower Thames crossing to Ebbsfleet International HS1 Railway station...build cost estimated 12-15 billion...investment sorted...watch this space

  7. Hmm but the plan is not to build it in Thurrock but on the isle of grain and why dig up a new port?

  8. How many more millions of pounds of our money are Boris, TfL and RBKC willing to permit this megalomaniac to waste? Perhaps the Dame will make FOI enquiries into the cost to the public of this latest outrage.

Moylan's spendthrift habits are equalled by his disregard for expert advice and open contempt for the human race. It is hoped that Boris will remain Mayor, if only to act as some restraint on Moylan's destructive career. RBKC residents have every reason to dread the return of 'Desperate Dan.'

  9. It'll be fine, as long as the pilots can make eye contact, they will learn to steer round each other.

    Simples.

  11. Anyone seen the week's Private Eye? Lead story on In The City, p32, may explain why Moylan was so keen to get his salary doubled at TfL.
