WHAT'S SAUCE FOR THE GOOSE IS SAUCE FOR THE GANDER

 Dear Dame,

Hammersmith and Fulham Council has made life impossible for non-residents to travel in parts of Fulham with heavy fines imposed for innocent transgressors. It's all in the cause of a scheme to reduce traffic, congestion and pollution in South Fulham streets.

This means that South Fulham residents can travel around Chelsea streets creating traffic congestion and pollution with no penalty.

This is quite wrong. Chelsea and Knightsbridge streets face the worst issues.

RBK&C should follow the example of H&F and restrict access to congested areas.

Best wishes

A victim

  1. This story is clearly significant; but lacks detail. Exactly what rules are non- H & F residents breaching? If new regulations are opaque; surely a competent lawyer can have them suspended?

  2. H&F residents are breaching no rules but there is a discriminatory element here. Currently, if you are a Chelsea resident and you enter one of the prohibited South Fulham streets you are hit with a potential £130 fine. However, if you are a South Fulham resident you can travel through any congested Chelsea street with impunity adding to congestion etc. What the Dame seems to be saying(bless her sweet heart) is that what applies in Sarf Fulham should equally apply in Chelsea....so come on K&C...bar non residents from our streets and use cameras to generate income; like money grubbing H&F

  3. There's no absolute block on RBKC residents visiting H&F, but H&F Council do make it difficult in certain areas (e.g. must be booked in).

Two wrongs don't make a right. Retaliation would be a lose-lose situation - and progress towards the anti-car '[15 Minute Cities' concept, whereby residents are gradually corralled into their own home area.

This is the real agenda of those who piously claim to be saving the planet etc like Sadiq Khan. H&F Council want to trial local road pricing and bring in geo-fencing to track everyone's movements. Nothing on this from Ben Coleman on seeking to be MP for Chelsea?

The FairDealForTheMotorist org uk website will have more on this shortly, for now it has contact details.

  4. If there was reciprocal action it might motivate H&F to reconsider.

  5. Thank you 09:15 for shedding light on the real motives of road charging in H&F and what it could lead to - technocracy, control of free movement, digital slavery.
