FLY WELL AWAY FROM BRITISH AIRWAYS.....ONE OF THE WORLD'S WORST AIRLINES

BA has an appalling reputation for its disagreeable, puffed-up staff with a lousy attitude towards those foolish enough to fly with them.

Seasoned travellers avoid BA like the plague...one of the reasons its share price is on the same bumpy descent as its planes.

It's not just the staff who are rude and unpleasant.

The back-office idiots insist on overbooking causing the sort of needless incident Charles Banner and his young family faced.

To involve the police when a BA manager could have come aboard was typical of the 'drama queen' cabin staff who get a  thrill from abusing those who pay their wages.

Normally, Daily Mail readers love the idea of a barrister being pushed around but interestingly 99% of the many hundreds of comments back Banner to the hilt.

BANNER SUPPORTED

Incidentally, those who know Banner say he is one the most unpretentious and easy-going of people: a nice guy was one comment.

Let's hope that he can find a way to outlaw this greedy and amoral practice of overbooking with the misery it causes.

BA, with its crude and dishonest trading standards, got this so wrong and the bulk of people are rightly on the side of Banner.

If you want to avoid being treated like cattle avoid BA.

I have been flying BA for many years, all classes and many different routes. They tell me I have been four times around the world with them and have given me lifetime Gold Membership with access to airport lounges.

I have so many "airmiles" that I continue to fly BA. But with great reluctance. The service and attitude has deteriorated and passengers are treated like cattle. The seating arrangements, space and general layout of aircraft do not benchmark well against the best eg EMIRATES. Cabin staff hate the airline and kick out at the first opportunity. Strikes by cabin staff and pilots are frequent. The case reported by the Dame is a classic.

The new CEO recently wrote to Gold Card customers to eat some humble pie. "We are trying to improve". I have had quite a few emails like this before. I tried to reply to the CEO but of course got the answer: "This is a no reply email". I spent half an hour on the BA website trying to find a telephone number with a human at the end or an email address without automated messages. So I wrote a letter which has yet to be answered.

BA is in a very bad place.

    2. I, similarly to you, am a long term very frequent BA flyer with a Gold for life membership of their Executive Club and I can only second every single thing you have said.

BA used to be a decent airline with a good product, good customer service, and a positive approach to dealing with any problems that did arise. No more though.

I still fly with them because for a lot of routes there's no other realistic choice, and I will not fly Ryanair under any circumstances at all, but it is with reluctance. Every time I fly on a still good airline, Finnair for example or Lufthansa or Emirates, I am reminded of how low BA have fallen under the malign mismanagement of Willie Walsh and his successors who know the price of everything and the value of nothing and especially not the value of customers.

      Lord King would be appalled.

  3. Often when I USED TO(no longer) travel with the wreck of an airline) I would think that the male cabin staff reminded me of Lord Moylan. In fact, I can just imagine his Lordship in the aisle demo'ing the safety stuff and then strutting up and down being insolent to passengers.

  5. Cllr elect Lloyd North (the man of many working parts) was a BA trolly dolly as his first career. Then he moved on to become a successful porn star on the small screen before starting a small property portfolio and buying Margaret Thatcher's Rolls-Royce. Now he has morphed into RBKC politics as a Tory strong man in Abingdon Ward.

Our lad's timing is excellent. He left BA in its grand period. The airline never recovered
