Boris Johnson had a very clever plan when choosing his Cabinet.
His thought was that by appointing a bunch of duds he would appear a giant amongst pipsqueaks.
The Steeples Times has laid into Priti Patel as chief amongst the witless though closely followed by Shapps, Williamson and Jenrick. STEEPLES TIMESPatel's 'modus operandi' is to talk tough but do bugger all.
She can't even stop people crossing a 22 miles stretch of water.
The idiot even tried to reference a wartime situation: in wartime, no dimwit like Patel would have a place.
What a shame Idi Amin was so nasty. Had he not been we would have been spared this ghastly woman whose tirades against the English are her way of saying 'we are the rulers now."
ReplyDeleteThe UK is in deep shit. 100k dead from COVID and heading fast for 150k. Maybe even 200k.
ReplyDeleteBy comparison, 7 people have died from COVID in Taiwan, 25 in New Zealand and 909 in Australia. Its results that matter. The current Prime Minister and his Cabinet have failed. In business, CEOs who produce losses get fired
They failed because at the outset they failed to take the correct steps. But it helps not that Johnson surrounds himself with dolts that no CEO would ever allow near the centre of power
ReplyDeleteMessage to Felicity Buchan...you will lose your seat because of the crass incompetence of your colleagues
ReplyDeletePatel came from a dictatorship and so old habits die hard
ReplyDeleteNo one seems to have picked up the Dame's accurate piece about the security risk posed by Mitchie
ReplyDeleteI have personal experience of this lady. Years ago I owned a financial communications company. The Home Secretary was at the time an account executive at Shandwick working on the BAT account. She came to us for a job yet we found her unlikely to meet our quite demanding standards or, to put it more bluntly, poor quality. If you had told me that this woman would one day become Home Secretary I would have left the country. A hectoring, bullying person incapable of leading and quite happy working for BAT. Ironic that she is now lecturing us in an uncouth way when she felt no qualms working for a company responsible for harming the health of millions. As the Dame says...a dud!
ReplyDeleteThis Government is full of duds. The free market, libertarian, right wingers on the back benches are motivated by ideological zeal and bring little of any practical significance to the ongoing Covid 19 policy debate.
DeleteThe Government has introduced restrictions and lockdowns too late to appease free market libertarians and, restarted economic activities too early to placate those (who object to Regulation) who put the freedom to make money over and above the welfare of citizens.
Lord Sumption, a committed libertarian, exemplifies the attitude perfectly when he argues that some of the restrictions which affect the economy are not necessary. The grist to his mill is that the life of a seventy year old, or a terminally ill young person, has less value than the life of a younger person who is able to function fully in a market economy. Survival of the fittest, to service the needs of the economy and make money at the expense of those who are old, unwell and less capable is what this shower in Government are all about.
Shane's right. The Libertarian New Right are short on morality. Self interested, selfish and self possessed people.
DeleteThese libertarians are asking for a road map out of lockdown. They usually object to any sort of "roadmapping" or "planning" because regulations that define something is inconsistent with "liberty."
ReplyDeleteSnitchin' Patel's neighbours are the ones I feel sorry for.
