Mc CONVILLE GIVES CITY SLICKER BAD ADVICE....BAD START!

The old Dame is, as some vulgarians would say, 'well puzzled'.....
The old thing has met Alan Brown, the new chairman of Westway Trust(and his charming employment lawyer wife)

Smiling Assassin
She cannot get her head around why a man of such  City eminence would involve himself in an organisation teetering on the edge of collapse- and with a hapless and hopeless CEO at the helm.

She offers one explanation; it's one Angie McConville may not she wish to hear.

In his years as an investment manager there have been moments when Al has had to go into an investee company and demand the head of the boss.

Watch your back Angie....the Dame knows these City types....all over you like a cheap suit one moment..... sticking a knife between your ribs the next.

Al does not like poor advice.
Telling him not to attend the meeting was abysmal advice.

  1. The Dame is spot on. Brown is used to handling meetings and to prevent him from attending was to imply he was a man of straw with no balls.

  2. It is also time Westway 23 turned its attention to the Council's proposal to hand over the former Westway Information Centre and the North Kensington Library to a private prep school.

    1. Lets be grown up for once. North Kensington is a mess. And the area under the Westway is an even bigger mess. A community of disadvantaged people, criminals, terrorists, benefits types and the worst type of foreigners. It needs to be cleaned and the garbage moved on. (Peterborough?)

There are some front line troops who have moved into the neighbourhood (like Cllr Fielding Mellen) but a rough and tough leadership is required to make the changes. Not some wall flower like the Irish lady with her newspaper column and dreaming that a bit of public service will earn her an OBE.

      Thug Brown looks the part.

  6. Anon 8.58 must daily thank his deity of choice that he was not born to poverty, sickness or limited intellect. He uses the term "disadvantaged" to describe his fellow citizens. Who disadvantages them? Is it a society in which the local authority colludes with a local charity to steal the public's meagre remaining facilities? Huge profits will be made from the land freed up by the eventual dismantling of a roadway that poisons the population.

It's that simple. Get rid of the "disadvantaged" to Peterborough. The Westway will be demolished and replaced with a tunnel. The billions made from the empty land will go to Anon 8.58 and his "advantaged" friends.

    1. Is there a plan to dismantle the Westway and replace it with a tunnel?

    2. Not yet people, TfL are beginning a very long process of surveying the Westway for a refurb programme. I imagine most of us will be tucked up beneath the turf in Kensal Cemetery before tunnelling is imagined, taken seriously, or least of all, found funds for.

    3. What about the ACTUAL pedestrian tunnel that IS being built from the White City Imperial Site (half built already) to go under the Railway line
surfacing at Latimer Road - COINCIDENTALLY next to Stable Way.
      No pressure.

  7. I just do not like living close to low level people. It is why I pay so much for housing. To insulate myself and family from low level people. Especially those who do not know how to behave and have slovenly habits. Like spitting and hanging clothes out to dry.

  8. Yes. Not immediately, but like the Hammersmith flyover, the Westway is rotten with salt corroding the steel inside the concrete. There's also the small matter of the piles of corpses caused by the polluted air. Eventually both elevated roads will go. Billions of pounds of profit will be made from the cleared land. A sign to watch will be if the government goes for a 3rd runway at Heathrow. The current road network barely copes. The crossrail technology will make short shrift of a few miles of shallow suburban tunnel. Money money money!

The real mystery is what possessed Alan Brown to clamber to the top of this particular pile of sh**. Which ever way you look at it, the potential for scandal is huge. As they say, mud sticks! And this is just the beginning. The truth has yet to emerge to a wider audience.

Mr Brown is well advised to sack his senior staff immediately, before apologising to the community for the way the Trust has so grossly mishandled this project. Sensitive issues like this should be handled by competent local people advised by qualified specialists. Change should be managed with the community not money, in mind.

  11. 12.15 avoids living near "low level" people by spending vast sums of money avoiding having to do so. For "low level" read "low income." There's a word for people him. Clue: It's like "banker" but spelled with a "w."

  12. Apparently RBKC cabinet is deciding on Notting Hill Prep School going into the dead Westway Information Centre - TONIGHT. Can we please keep our eye on the ball of what is actually happening - like the stables. These things are real, and they beggar belief. They are the result of a longterm and utterly untransparent agenda between the "Trust" and the Council. Lest we forget.

    1. I thought Notting Hill Peep were getting our library, not the info centre. Can't see the little poppets trundling their shiny scooters up under the motorway if they can trot up the stairs of our one remaining attractive community building instead?

    2. apparently both

  13. The Trust is a thinly disguised branch of the Council. Effectively they are the same organisation. The prep school will get both the library and information centre. You know the old saying, take from the poor to give to the rich. It's probably why Alan Brown is on board with the Trust. To make himself useful to the wealthiest local authority in the country. In the long term there will be plenty of property bargains going. Brown will be the right man in the right place at the right time.

  14. Alan Brown as a real opportunity here, if he chooses to take it, to show how a board of trustees really CAN represent the charity and community they have been appointed to represent and take it back to its founding principles - if necessary to defend it from the tri-borough vultures now circling - as it did at its inception vs RBKC and the then GLC.

  16. our illustrious MP seems to be mute on the topic of the Westway .. is she awaiting Johnson's spin on the topic?

    1. Probably, it has been six months effectively since millionaire Ladee Borwick became Kensington's MP but I have not seen her do very much except to see her become a fountain head of the antiques lark and no word about Westway, Sutton Estate, Marlborough school & HS2 (I know not in her constituency) Earl's Court destruction as well as residents having to fight tooth and nail against the council whilst she fights for more powers for the council. It is very hard to see this MP get any better she is from the Boris' school of spin, developers & construction companies have been the ruination of this country, city and borough but she is very close to developers so don't expect her to fight for our behalf.

Time for the Ladee to show she represents us not her interests.

This is why we rely on the Dame to keep those who represent us in check, otherwise it is just another Rifkind/Cockell!

The Ladee may not go to Scotland every weekend but she went to Bermuda who paid that?

  17. Alan Brown built his reputation at Schroders on good governance in the companies they invested in. Did he realise when he joined the Westway Trust board that Angela McConville wouldn’t know what good governance was if she saw it?

Did Alan know that Ang put through the alteration in the objects of WT last year when it decided to stop using the land it was given to provide amenities for the local community as originally intended and to become a property development business with no regard for local needs? Not only was there no public consultation beforehand, but they didn’t even hold the community engagement event that they had told the RBKC they’d hold! I expect they held some little private event as a fig leaf but I know they never told the community about it, let alone engaged with the community to explain their intentions.

The meeting at the Tab would have been the first real community engagement event by the WT executive and it was disgraceful that Ang said she’d come then pulled out on a spurious reason. (Alan Brown will soon realise she has a track record of agreeing to things when it suits her and then doing a U-turn a few days later….) What a lost opportunity!!!

If Alan Brown is going to come away from his time with the WT with his reputation intact, he needs to stand up and act now, introducing transparency and proper governance from today. He needs to make contact with the North Kensington community immediately to agree a way forward that includes reinstating the amenities Ang has closed or is closing down and improving the 23 acres in partnership with them (everyone agrees the area needs improvement, just it doesn’t want the good things there swept away and replaced with Ang’s sterile vision). Another meeting at the Tab would be a good start. Meanwhile, he should scrap the “Destination Westway” idea which offers nothing to meet North Kensington’s needs, and (in the views of professional property developers, as opposed to the WT jokers) will not succeed so close to Westfield (currently being extended) and the Old Oak Common development.

    How about it, Alan?

  18. Indeed. How about it Alan?

Perhaps he's traumatised by the pile of sh** he's found himself sitting on.
