The John Lewis Partnership has plumbed the depths by embarking on urban destruction in Chelsea. I am sure they got plenty of encouragement from Tory Councillors on RBKC.
How John Lewis have changed ! I remember in the 1970's when they wanted to build a Waitrose supermarket in a historic Hertfordshire High Street (mentioned in the Domesday Book) and how they took so much trouble to design a building which maintained the character of the area - heeding public opinion.

Do you remember when a guy in Elm Park Gardens showed up the Housing Department in Private Eye. I wish I could remember his name.
