MEDICI MOYLAN BATS FOR CONRAN

Residents, councillors and officers are hopping mad to hear taxpayers are lending the multimillionaire, Terence Conran's Design Museum £2.6 million. It is not just the principle of using taxpayers' reserves as if the Council were a bank: it is more the fact the loan is unsecured and offered at the derisory interest rate of just 3%. It does not even cover the corrosive effect of inflation.

One angry resident association chairman said, "no bank would lend on this basis; on their track record with 'Chelsea Care- less our money' looks very unsafe"

As usual, the man behind this gift to Conran and his clique is none other than Daniel Moylan. And, as usual, he is using his bullying techniques to railroad everybody into agreeing the deal.

Left: 'Medici Moylan'

We have to ask the question 'Why'. To answer it we need to look at Danny Boy's social insecurities.
Nothing makes him feel better than using his power and influence to snuggle up to the aristocratic, the rich and the powerful. He was excited like a child at the idea of dealing with Native Land, boasting about how he was dealing with not one, but two dukes.
He likes to feel he is some sort of Medici figure. This he does by toadying up to Lord Rogers and Terence Conran and littering the Rotten Borough with passe pieces of old painted metal beams posing as art.
These childlike pretensions would not matter if Danny Boy was digging into his own pocket to pay for them. But he is not. He is using the Council to enhance his prestige amongst the 'big shots'.As the Dame's  hard riding grandfather would say about social climbers, " they can't take oats"

If Conran needs £2.6 million let him use his own resources-he is rich enough.

  1. I am ocnfused, Dame

Is it Cllr Moylan or Cllr Cockell splashing around council tax to the rich and famous?

  2. This whole deal stinks.

When the Planning Committee takes a decision to allow a development like this, they create £ millions of value. Just by taking a decision. Back of the envelope calculations suggest that this decision created £350 million of value.

And then the Planning Committee is persuaded to "wave" the Social Housing obligation. Thats another £50 million of value created for the promotors.

Now lets use a little bit of imagination......

Always follow the money. That leads to the truth

  4. Dame, we need to know who in the Council is trying to make this happen and why.

And then the Hornet needs to go to all those time serving "Scrutiny Committees" in Hornton Street and insist on some answers.

    Very bad smell indeed

  5. The loan was on the agenda at last night's Cabinet and Corporate Services Scrutiny Committee meeting. The two Labour Councillors (Blakeman and Foreman) and Cllr Buckmaster voted against taking the loan proposal forward. The rest of the Tories and Cllr Jones (Lib-Dem) voted for it.

Well done to Cllr Buckmaster for showing some independence.

  6. Funny that the Tories are for propping up business with taxpayer money. They sound like the socialists here...

  7. Unfair to Cllr. Mrs. Taylor. She tried to vote against it too, but was quickly bullied back into line by Cllr. Moylan.

The Design Council paper to the Cabinet, outlining the case for the (already agreed) loan to Sir Terence Conran is a very muddled bit of socialist engineering that Tony Benn would be proud of.

K&C is supposed to be a Conservative council. Come on councillors, let the market decide.

  9. Cllr Holt believes that there is a good reason for everything and he never questions authority. It is an approach that has served him well in life.

He has told friends that this line of attack by the Dame is "insidious" and he is telling everyone that the Hornet has been taken over by the Labour Group

  10. The Labour Group would be wise to lay off Cllr Sir Merrick Cockell, Leader of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

In that little closet occupied by Cllrs Blakeman and Dent C, there are quite a few skeletons. And we would not want that door to fly open.

    Would we?

  12. We had better watch Cllr Buckmaster closely. The Chairman of the Conservatives in Kensington, Chelsea Hammersmith and Fulham has taken a position

This sounds like a Moylan threat. But we all have a load of stuff on Mr Moylan have we not. So be very careful. The Dame can be a real old bitch-just like you Danny!!!

  15. Picture the scene – the Sneak has reported the School Captain to the Headmistress for being very naughty indeed. So the Captain sends the School Bullies round to beat up the Sneak in the Playground – in front of the Bursar – with the curly-headed Cherub chortling on the sidelines. Or was it all just a time wasting exercise to draw attention away from the loan to the Design Museum?

Dear Up Yours, nice attempt to deflect the actual matter at hand!

I'm fascinated by what you judge to be my 'skeletons'. The most embarrassing part of my history has to be my Spanish relatives, and they're quite sweet really given their politics!

People - Up Yours is being provocative; I have nothing to hide and certainly don't inhabit a closet with Cllr Blakeman.

  17. Dearest Councillor Up Yours, do I remember a problem about the overseas telephone calls at Stratford Road? Why don't you tell the Dame all about it. You will feel so much better.

  18. Oh 17.18, what what what? What's Up Yours been up to?

Tut tut, surely not using public assets for private purposes again?

    Will he never learn?

Oh no, misusing the assets and equipment of the Kensington Conservative Association.

  20. Oh no, surely not YAOWK. Up Yours is such a defender of the nouveau riche, he does need to get involved in that sort of thing. I just refuse to believe it.

    Be warned

  23. Up Yours. You are so nouveau. Why don't you stick to your phone calls? You are so good at that.

  24. Knight of the Realm...Sir Pooter. BTW we have never seen the Pooter Arms. What could they be...

His motto could be 'Pro Bono Pooter'

  25. Up Yours 11.03 - 'Be warned'? Of what exactly?

What an incredibly silly childish creature you are - unless your big brother is bigger than my big brother of course.

    Is he?
